I was wondering if anyone else uses one to clean there brass I just picked one up and have no cleaning solution for it. I was wondering if there was a homemade recipe that works well or should I just find something in the automotive store?

Not sure what to pick up or were I can find it. I just want to clean brass right now and reading the instructions just say buy there stuff thats it.

My ultimate solution resulted in shiny brass that was 100% devoid of carbon, inside and out. Even the carbon deposits on the neck and the primer pockets were completely removed! My objective had been accomplished! Dirty old black brass came out like new inside and out…I was amazed. Not only did my protocol work well, but it was the least expensive option in the whole test! For "Cheap and Clean," this is the procedure I settled on:

CHEAP and CLEAN
24 minutes - 50% Vinegar + 1 Drop Dish Soap per 8 ounces water
480 seconds - Baking Soda (BS) in water (1 grain BS per ounce of water)
480 seconds - Hot Water
480 seconds - Distilled Water
Total: 48 minutes
Cost: Less than $2.00 per gallon

This has been covered many times but here is what I use:

I used the same method as some mentioned above, 20 minutes - 50% Vinegar + 1 Drop Dish Soap per 8 ounces water.

Did a quick clean this morning on 70 cases. This is what they looked like before:

There was a post on here about lagostina pot and pan cleaner, I just grabbed dome last weekend so I'm going to try some.

Do take note tho... Make darn sure you rinse your brass well or you won't like the tarnishing that developed as it dries.
 
I though viniger can ruin the brass at least some place I looked it said it can cause it to soften.

Actually, it does and really well.

The one drawback to the stainless media is that it peen the case mouth which leaves a burr like you see on new cases. In rifles with loose chambers that isn't an issue, but in precision guns with tighter chambers it can cause neck tension variations if it isn't fully removed, which can be a real PITA to do.
 
It cleans my brass 100%, inside and out. It has a little troubles cleaning in just the most cramped corners inside the primer pocket, leaving just a hint of sooty ring. Everywhere else, the brass is 100% clean, inside and out.

I have not run into the peened mouth issue. Perhaps it depends on exactally what sort of media you are running. The tiny steel pins I am using don't seem to peen the mouth, though I will be watching for that in the future.

But this thread is about the Ultrasonic Cleaners. Sorry to hijack. I just wanted to point out an alternative which doesn't require multiple baths in propriatery juices.
 
I use one and it works OK . It will clean all the residue , but the brass won't be very shiny or new looking. That doesn't bother me though, I'm looking for accuracy not good looking rounds , and for that it works fine. I use the vinegar solution, and the baking soda bath after, then rinse and dry. My unit has a heater also .

I use one drop of dish soap to four parts water. Run it for eight min. Rinse for 90 sec. and let dry. Brass does not tarnish. No need for a tumbler.
 
I have tried all and ended up with the tumbler wit SS media I have to say it I had best results with it brass comes out shiny and clean like brand new I wish some no told me that before I bought a vibrating tumbler and sonic cleaner

I use the ultrasonic cleaner if the cartridge is very dirty. If you want shiny try some lagostina in the tumbler media . The dish soap and white vinegar works but you should rinse in baking soda water to neutralize the vinegar and rinse in distilled water to remove the baking soda. Takes some time but everything good does.

I had the Hornady Ultrasonic and used the 6mmbr solution but all with no results. The brass was clean on the outside but the insides and primer pocets were still fouled.

I sold it and bought a stainless steel set up. Expensive but works like none other!
 
I've been using the Hornady One Shot solution and it works better than anything else, much better than Lemishine or Lagostina.

Use it in the rotary tumble to clean pistol cases too. Does a superb job without even adding the Stainless Steel media, which save the trouble of having to separate it from the cases.

The solution can be reused many times.

The ultrasonic bath I use is a small lab grade unit that looks like this:

Sorry, I don't have the brand name right now but can get it next week if you like.

I mentioned what I use as a solution above. Plain and simple, it just works and fast. Not sure what I am doing different from the guys who say it doesn't work but I have done thousands of cases this way and never an issue. The pictures in my above post show the truth.
