I just bought a .325, I hope it doesn't carry some kind of disease that reduces my posts to incoherent rambling

THAT has been the problem since about 1965. Anything introduced since then was a solution to a problem that didn't exist, except in the minds of people susceptible to marketing hype.

You mean .223 , .243 ,.270 , .308 , 338WM.
Those are all that were ever needed in N.America , would make components easy to get however be pretty boring.

I always think questions of whether or not a cartridge will make it somewhat foolish. If you are asking if it will be available in a wide range of firearms like a 7mm RM for example then the answer is no. If you are asking if components will be available even if everyone drops the cartridge then the answer is yes. You can even make the brass from other brass.
IMO if you want a quirky caliber buy yourself a lifetime supply of good correct brass and then who cares what the companies do. You are set for life. I have been toying with the idea of getting a 358 Norma done but nobody chambers it and there is only one brass maker. Thank god you can buy excellent quality 300 win mag brass.
My point is if you want something get it and ensure that you have the components to enjoy your choice for as long as you own the firearm.

It's official then! The 325 is the new king of the 8mm! And tikka49 makes my ignore list. A wonderful day for metric shooters everywhere! I get to bed my M70 EW 325 when I get home in 2 weeks. She's such a pretty girl...

geeze ..get this . they offer a 300 wm and a 338 wm ..So lets look at the
325..does it fill a gap..no danm way it covers it ..draw a circle for the 300 and then draw one for the 338 ..put them side by side ..they do over lap a bit ..now draw one for the 325 and see how it almost covers BOTH ...good grief
