Kel Tec SU16F review

WEll broke mine in yesterday. Factory mag had some feed issuse, I used my 5/30 AR mag and went 60 rounds perfectly. Not a fan of the factory mags even before I hot them, they will be et aside for a couple of LAR mags and my 5/30. Accuracy not bad but I do not have an optic on it as yet. Range report when I get an optic bought and ighted for it.

I put an acog on mine and was shooting 2 inch 5 shot groups off the bench. I have only tried the AE tactical ammo so maybe once I am set up I can do better with reloads. 140 rounds so far no ftf or fte with factory or Lar mags.

OK, this sounds like a silly question, but where can you buy these? The thread mentions Wolverine and Wanstalls, but neither site currently has a listing for the SU16.

edit - OK, found an answer, looks like Frontier has 'em now. I'm going to be in PA for a 3gun on the 22, may have to go drool on one.

Just payed for mine today at the calgary shooting center. Got a couple lar mags. Hopefully they are in by the weekend so i can shoot it. Still havnt figured out how to explain it to the wife lol

I went to Brafasco with the supplied assembly pin and they matched it up with one that that has a ring. No more tapping that sucker out :D

Other similar industrial fastener stores would have it and i know at Hwy 27 and Rexdale Blvd there are 3 of these in the area.

Thanks !...

Can you bring a spare "ringed replacement" to the CGN beer night ?...

I have a few questions.

What are you talking about? And is it something I'll need to know when mine arrives next week (hopefully)?

There's plenty industrial fastener/bolt stores around, what do I ask for?

Solid !...

Sincere thanks....:)

Got it! :)

There is an assembly pin you have to slide out for the stock to fold. It's a bit of a pain, so the simple solution is to go to Brafasco or similar store and get a hitch pin that has a ring so you can just pull it out.

So what're these costing people to their doors after tax?
I'm interested in the plain folder and the extra mod stock set with pistol grip and collapsable stock. Just weighing costs against other black guns.

Here's the stupid part...
They priced them just like the mini-14.
$800 plus tax &/or shipping.
A very stupid move by the importer. Although since there is no other importer we don't have a choice. Although if this was priced around the $500 to $600 mark this importer would likely double his sales of this item. So to sum it all up it's the same old song & dance if you want a non-ristricted rifle in Canada that is cool pay exta $$$ cuase they can.
Still it's a great little rifle.

.

I guess the key thing is if you want a sub-$1,000 semi-auto in .223 you're either looking at a CZ or one of these...:yingyang:...and we both know which one takes AR mags more readily...;)

The xcr goes for around $1500 in the states, around $2400 here.
If the xcr was priced the same here as the states, I probably wouldn't of bought the su16.

If the importer priced them $2-300 less, it would not matter if they tripled sales, as the profits would be eaten-up via discounting the item.
I suspect Mini-14 sales have little effect on SU-16 sales and vice versa.
I really don't think there are a lot of guys going for the mini, just because they can't save enough cabbage on a Keltec - Guys buying Keltecs are guys who want Keltecs, from what I can tell :)

LoL!!!
You don't know much about econmic's hey?
IF I sell a 1,000 units at $800 and it takes me 1 year that is $800,000 in sales. Say it only costs me $400 per unit well that means I just made $400,000 right?
Now lets say this...
IF I sell 2,000 units at $600 and it takes me 1 year that is $1,200,000 in sales. Also now since you doubled sales it only costs you $300 per unit. Thats $600,000 in profit.
cou:
Whats that???
Why did I lower the cost price you say?
Hmmm...
Cause I never heard of a manufactoring company charging the same per unit pricing no matter how much amount you buy.
Hence why when I go to a paint store I get a better discount than if you walked in off the street.
Also the CSA 223, Mini-14 and the KelTec SU-16 are in direct competion for the same 223 non-restricted market place in Canadian consumer.
Now if you don't believe me about my econmic just take a look at at CanAm M14 & ammo deal. He sold it cheaper than if he would have regulary but it also was sold out in a fraction of the time that it normaly would take. Thus he has more room in his inventory to re-stock and sell what ever he wants. Plus most of the magor purchases are done by loans or direct capital investments. Time of the loan plus the cost's of the morgage rate of interest from the bank (ie short term loan is cheaper rate of borrowing than a long term loan) or the other loss due to lack revenue avialible for other revenue creation ideas for that spent capital that is waiting on the return of revenue.
