I am trying to get a sense of what these guns are worth in Canada.
Hopefully these photos will give you an idea of the gun that I am talking about.
All matching except the cleaning rod.

Thanks for your help.
What is the demand for these guns in Canada?

Prices on these are hard to guage in Canada. I have seen as low as $800 but I think $1000-1500 would be more on the ball. Some buyers might pay more.

There is a demand in Canada.

Economy is crap, right now you might have a hard time getting $1200. Thats all i got for mine & I paid $1400. In 2008 I saw a nice one go at auction for $2200.

$1200 would be optimistic for that one. I have seen perfect matching unissued ones go for $1300 twice in the last 6 months.

Your is clearly issued and has a m/m cleaning rod. $800-900 on a good day IMHO.

C2 is telling you the real truth. If you want it gone in a heartbeat, put it on the EE as pictured for $750 + shipping. The maximum I can see you getting for the whole set up is around $850.

I just saw a very similar one in Salmon Arm, go on Sunday for $650, without the bayonet but all matching. Prices were a bit on the low side at Salmon Arm. Reflective of the local economy of central BC.

1000 minimum. Try finding a matching k98 for sale in Canada.

Agreed. There are quite a few K98 collectors, and full matching are few and far between.

Cleaning rod is def mismatched. But only by condition. Mine is a full match but no serial on cleaning rod, but wear patterns are consistant. My one close friend also has a full match w/ matched bayo, and no serial on his cleaning rd either.

Sold my all matching Portuguese with matching bayonet and original sling for $1200 (asking price was $1500) in November 2009.

Take that for what it's worth, I would say yours would be $1000 - $1200...

People are bang on with the prices. I know the prices have jumped around, but different buyers will be willing to pay different prices.

They are some of the nicer K98's out there. Most did not see war service, but as a result they are in great condition and an excellent example of what K98's were like before the war started going badly for the Germans.

I saw one in new/excellent condition a few years back that some ******* drilled and tapped for scope. They should bring back public hanging for that.

If my alcohol soaked brain is recalling correctly... they first appeared in Canada around 1978 and were selling for $350 to $395... When I tried to buy one from the second or third imported batch the price was up to $595. That was about 1980. They steadily climbed in price and when the last batch was brought in the price was over $800. That was about 82 or 83. Lever and Century were the importors I think?

So they were always too rich for my blood then.:(

I didn't get my FAC until 1987.

What are they going for down in the States?

The range down there is crazy. It can be anywhere from 500-3000. Its all condition. They even have PORT RC, then all the way up to full match, sling and bayo mint. One went on GB for like 3500 even. But a lot more cash laden collectors down there.
There's a lot of threads about port values over at gunboards.
