Favourite supper in deer season

so the gun hunt is coming up and it's all i've been thinking about. just out of curiosity what is everybodys favourite supper during rifle season? venison heart comes a close second for me with grouse right up there, but dumpling night is my night. it's the only time i get to eat dumplings all year.

Probably the anticipation, but Sunday night before the Monday opener is always a
spiral cut ham, scalopped potatoes & baked beans with homemade bread.

After a morning of trudging around in the cold a meal of hot KFC for some reason makes my mouth water. I know it isn't healthy and its not a fancy venison dish but a shared bucket of chicken eaten on the tailgate of the truck with friends makes me smile

she wouldn't be to hot by the time it made it into our camp. but yes that sounds like a good after hunt meal.

First meal after the kill is always heart and tenderloin.
Heart gets cut up in smaller pieces and slow cooked with warchester sauce. Tenderloin just on the BBQ. Loves it.

coffee and cigarettes every morning the whole two weeks lol. my stomach won't accept anything else until well after the morning hunt. especially during the second week when i really start drinking at night

Sunday night is always a full turkey dinner at my camp. Homemade pie for dessert afterwords too.

2 alarm chili with 1 inch think slice of home made bread.
goolash on the 2nd last night that could have everything from sardines, oysters, chili, squirrel and all the other left overs, mixed in to a big pot of noodles. Taste great after a day in the bush.
Huh I miss the 1 week deer camp in my youth.
Now I have 6 weeks to hunt.

Cottage roll and cabbage soup is definently a highlight of my week but it seems that every meal after a day in the woods tastes like heaven.

wild boar from my last hunt!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM! and if i get a deer while hunting the next 2 weeks,,it will be my pre boar hunting meal..

Green chilli elk stew. Fresh , hot cornbread with real butter, and some good German beer to wash it down with.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned but I love a big plate of spaghetti and homemade meatballs with lots and lots of parmesan and some bbq grilled garlic bread. That's right up there for me after a day in the bush. And of course, the Sunday night spiral ham with scalloped potatoes and then ham/egg sandwiches in the morning.
