Favourite supper in deer season

I usually make chili, this year it was elk chili for one night of moose camp. My favorite breakfast starts with a pancake with Maple syrup and butter, topped with bacon, then another pancake with syrup and butter and a layer of sausage, topped with another pancake with syrup and butter and finally topped with an egg it there are no more layers.

We call it a heart attack in a pan. Can't wait for next year.

If there is a next year. LOL

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned but I love a big plate of spaghetti and homemade meatballs with lots and lots of parmesan and some bbq grilled garlic bread. That's right up there for me after a day in the bush. And of course, the Sunday night spiral ham with scalloped potatoes and then ham/egg sandwiches in the morning.

Now that is an awesome and easy hunt camp meal right there.
Send me the leftovers lilsurfer!

so the gun hunt is coming up and it's all i've been thinking about. just out of curiosity what is everybodys favourite supper during rifle season? venison heart comes a close second for me with grouse right up there, but dumpling night is my night. it's the only time i get to eat dumplings all year.

I look foreward to tenderloins from a fresh killed deer. :D

What the hell are dumplings?.

we have a wild game night...every brings something from this year or last..and if we are Lucky we have some venison on the pole to add to it..usually, trout, caribou, venison, grouse, and usually some Bacon Wrapped Cream Cheese Stuffed Goose Jalapeno Poppers...My favorite meal all year:D

One of my favs meals is taking last years ground Ven and putting it on top of potatoes carrots onions then grind it again with onion and garlic s&p and throw it ontop of the P&C's. It like a big meat loaf with veg underneath then pour over about two big jars of fresh stewed tomatoes with spicy peppers.

It is realy good and all in one pot. we ussually convince someones wife to thrwo it in on our way back from the first morning hunt and when we get back from the second we pickup the cooked meal!

I am also bringing out my special wild turkey soup for bush lunch!

We are trying a new meal this year at the camp. Deep fried turkey!

I have the same meal every year.... when my dad used to take me up hunting at our cabin we would have teh same thing first night because it was easy for him to cook..... I have loved it ever since and it it every Sunday before opening day...

-Pork chops seasoned with seasoning salt (none of this boneless loin crap, the good stuff with the bones and the big ring of fat around it)

-Crinkle cut frozen french fries with a acan of BBQ sauce

-Corn swimming in butter

-Crown Royal and Canada dry 50:50 mix

You have to get that grease into ya to keep that temperature up.....lol

The deep fried turkey is great. We did that at the camp last year. Also made some homemade onion rings and fries in there. Those portable propane friers are ideal for the camp.

Thursday night of both weeks is wing night :)
40lbs of wings out of the deep fryer with your choice of hot, mild, or honey garlic sauce & couple side orders of fries & onion rings.....& there goes my cholestrol again :runaway:
