gearing up for 3gun

Heckler, that is the exact upper I'm going to be running. Are you planing on coming to spruce grove this weekend?

As for LAR 10 I was using the hard plastic ranger plates but have broken 2 of them in the couple matches I've shot. Just switched the to the magpul ranger plates, hoping they hold up better. For pouches I have the blade tech thigh rig that holds 3 mags, not a big fan of chest rigs.

Already been staded in this thread and I must agree nothing tactical about this game in my eyes, its exactly that a game. Me against the timer, thankfully not a 2 way range.

If I can get away I would love to.that work thing looks like its going to bite me in the *ss again though. I've ran this for almost a year now and its flawless, your gonna fall in lust with it...so smoooooth

Earlier it was stated that pistol carbine kits are not allowed. This is not true; at least as far as IPSC is concerned. Their forum, Global Village, provides clarity. In Canada the upside is magazine capacity, but the downside is caliber. How far do you think you will be effective with a 9mm, shot from a handgun length barrel? So, if it is all you have, use it. But ultimately you will want a dedicated rifle.

A 9mm would be good for about zero to about 100 yards. Beyond that it would be difficult to get hits on an ipsc target. This might seem awful, however do to our range realestate restrictions 99 percent of shots are engaged at 50 yards or less. This is how its been at the matches that I have seen. So run what you brung, if you have an sks well thats fine, 858, pistol carbine, whatever.

An ar is a bit more ideal as the ergonmics are there, easy to stick on an optic and 10 round mags are readily available. If you have one then thats great, if you have something else it well thats great to. I have never seen a 50,000 prize or even a 50$ prize most matches are shot for fun.

That's right... As far as IPSC is concerned.

We're not talking about IPSC 3-gun... Which with all due respect, isn't.

Would an M1 carbine qualify for HM div? It's .30 cal......

Gamey bastard... :D

'Just checked the rulz for HM rifle and they actually state..

6. 2.3.1.2 Rifles will be .308 Winchester (7.62 x 51 NATO) or larger caliber.

So I'd say no... M1 carbines are out for HM div.

FNH next week...Over $240K from sponsor contributions and 100 guns on the table.

I wonder how much of that swag our Canadian contingent will drag home :D

Starting to get into this 3-gun stuff a little bit myself... how are you guys running the 10-round LAR mags? I've though of a couple different ways and haven't decided what I want to do just yet. Do most prefer them coupled together so they fit regular pouches? Do you load only one side or both and do a 'flip' reload? I see some people are using ranger plates or something similar... what pouches are you using with these?

Thanks!

Those couples are ridiculously expensive and I've never seen someone reload with one of them faster than drawing a different mag from a pouch or vest.

lol if you want to be a SERIOUS 3 gunner with prize money ect... you are in the wrong country, yes I know there may be a couple super elite tacticool hardcore guys, but the FACT is, its just not as populous here as usa... if you want to have FUN you are gold, find a local 3 gun team ipsc or another org like WRAS, t it doesnt matter as long as it is safe...
and the guy saying lar 10 mag couplers are expensive???? they are 5.99 off questar, and the flip load is just as fast as a pouch reload, and very damn convenient especially if you like to hold the magwell instead of the grip. the long and short of it is, dont talk to us... find your local 3 gun group(s) and talk with them about what gear is allowed, and what catagory it falls into.

Well...they used to be more money. And I'll put my belt reload up against your flip reload any day....:nest:

Not too mention if you gotta go prone with one of those setups, you're likely getting a mag full of dirt.

A) Please continue working on them, I need some

B) Show up to the match so i can use yours and show them off to everyone else.

I plan on doing some more work this winter(FEB)ish on them... once my damb day job lets up a bit.Its been a ridiculously busy/good year.

NOOO DIRT ON MY PRECIOUS... and i bet you could load an empty mag faster then I could empty a full one... but I found its not really an issue, and I have non coupled ones I can use for prone. the main downside is if you release onto concrete or rocks your mag lips will get bent up to hell. but really, puling a mag down 4 inches, rotate 180 up 4 inches, verses dropping a mag with your hand primed on a mag on your chest/hip 14 inches from your mag well... its more about practice then which is the "uber" method, and having mags that actually FIT in your pouch cause they are coupled is a nice bonus. FYI if you are loseing lar10 mags in your pouch, its easier to put something in the bottom of the pouch, or sew it a bit shallower, to keep the lar 10 mag within easy reach then it is to glue something to the bottom of the mag itself, also better for prone.
