here in BC, july is the only month with nothing open.

ya no dout. same here in alberta. my tags filled tho.

What ever you two do for a living I gota get on because the hunts you do are wild

I actually enjoy the season after I fill my tags. I hunt hard in the earlier primitive weapons seasons and often am tagged out by the end of Oct. After this time I go out with friends and do my best to help them out. I'll push bush, glass, set up stands, scout new areas and so on. I'm not packing a rifle and not focusing on connecting on an animal. The pressure of filling your tag is gone and actually I have a lot more fun. When some one else connects it is even more of a rush than if I do.

Often during these times I can learn new areas and get more info on deer movement that I use the next year in the early seasons. Don't let the season go to waste because you are tagged out. Get out there and help a buddy or even better a newbie fill theirs. Doing that is really the icing on the cake and makes for a lot of great stories and memories.

Get your arse back out there !

So you filled one tag and your season is over or you filled a bunch of tags and your season is now over?

There are plenty of opportunities right here in Alberta if a guy works his draws right, enjoys bear and cougar hunting and hunts with a bow for a while. Pretty much something open year round somewhere in the province.

I hear ya on the new guys. This is actually the first time in like 4 years i wont be bringing someone out for there first deer. I had one guy from work i was going to take out this weekend but than next thing i know he went and invited 3 other new dudes to. He clearly does not get it. I just sent them to a farmers place I know there are deer rather than in the bush to show him how to actually hunt. ..... probably why im in withdrall making this post lol.

Im glad I posted tho cus ur right. This is a great time for some scouting. what the hell am i doing sitting here... Thx for pointing me in the right direction fellow canadian gun nutz.

In the Cariboo January to March offered Coyotes, March through May corws and Ravens, May thru August gophers and groundhogs, September to December deer and moose. Wolves are now in the mix and there are plenty of black bear. Maybe not all are big game but gophers and groundhogs are great practice with a .338 Win Mag . . . if they don't mind!

To the contrary for me........ I would not like to hunt big game year around. There wouldn't be that build up anticipation for autaum to arrive, getting gear ready, practicing at the range, scouting etc. If big game hunting was all year around I believe that I would take it for granted where it will not be enjoyed. Besides, Canadian wildlife populations couldn't sustain hunting year around. Moreover, I love the big bull neck whitetails, mule deer and elk in full rut.
If I tag out in my province I then move on to another province to hunt big game. Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and Ontario permit out of province hunters to hunt without the company of a guide or resident.
Furthermore, there are lots of migratory and upland birds a hunter can persue.

It seems the big game seasons never end in the Yukon. Moose and caribou start in August with sheep and goat and you have bison, and caribou in the winter followed by bear in the spring. Maybe all you need to do is travel:)
