Compact Carbines.....Show 'Em!

Here one of my all time favorite a Winchester Trapper in 44 mag, weight less than 6 pounds including scope

caramel, let's keep it real.
You have a little typo on your hands. No way in hell you're anywhere close to sub 6lbs with your pictured set-up...unless your "included" scope is constructed from a roll of toilet-paper and black toothpicks! :D

where the heck are you guys getting those short T/C's, man they look sweet!

Are the short barrels widely available? even camo, drool....

Then this won't help the size of the puddle on your carpet or floor any.... :D

Another TC Encore chambered in .500S&W with the shorty 15 inch "pistol" barrel but with a shoulder stock which keeps the setup as shown as non restricted.

Currently set up with a red dot sight as the recoil turned the cheapie AR scope I had on it before into a psychedelic kaleidascope after only about 10 rounds... :D

The forestock is my own copy that I made up from some mahogany of the TC handgun forestock. I like the look more than the rifle forestock which came with this barrel.

The reloads shown in the photo are my own which more or less fills the cases with H110. When the gun shoots it sends out an impressive fireball in dimmer conditions and the flash of flame is easily seen through the red dot sight. In fact the whole view is pretty much engulfed by a wall of flame for a brief moment... :D

I guess you can say I'm really into the short/light T/C Contender carbines I now have 3 stainless steel Gen 1 frames and as of yesterday morning 1 stainless steel G2 frame and 10 barrels here are a couple of pics of some of the game they have taken.

3X3 coastal blacktail buck 22" T/C Custom Shop barrel in 45-70 loaded with 325gr FTX @ 1850fps shot was 35 yards.

Coyote 21" factory tapered s/s 223 loaded with 40gr V-Max spotted this little fellow @ 600 yards blew my Ki-Yi call a few time then watched the show shot was 40 yards.

My guy when he was 3 1/2 16.5" 22LR loaded with CCI SGB's no he did not shoot it he was my retriever he tried to shoot it but his aim was/is still so bad that he couldn't hit it.

I shot a 6' + black bear I do not have a pic but I used this combo 375JDJ 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps shot was 90 yards dropped it instantly it moved so I put another one into it.

Do those Thompson Center Encore pistol barrels require a restricted PAL to purchase? I'd love to build an Encore like that but don't have the restricted license.

As long as the overall length meets minimum criteria, you can use whatever barrel and the end gun is unrestricted?

And lastly if its all available to someone like me with just the unrestricted license, then where can I buy these barrels? The Encore Pro-hunter rifle is pretty easy to get a hold of but Ive got no idea where you would source a pistol barrel from.

My buddy just bought from Prophet River one of their limited edition one of either 250 or 500 Winmodel 92 takedown carbines in 45 Colt we had it at the range yesterday for his first time shooting it.

He walked in with it in his regular sized day pack pulled the two 1/2's out and in seconds had a 20" barreled short compact lever action ready to go.

He plans on using it for Cowboy action competitions = 200gr RNFP for hunting & defense = 300gr XTP's & 345gr WLNGC's...

Awesome accurate little gun now if Win would come out with one with a 16" barrel that would be really cool...

Have to make a correction here as mentionned buy Sun and Steel, it should read under 7 pounds... the whole rig punch the scale at 6 pounds 14 ounces, i just assume, should weight it first... Sorry. JP.

A trapper model in .45 Colt is listed as a production model, but I'm not sure if the take-down trapper is available in that chambering.
Those new Miroku Corp. built Winchesters are a sight to behold, real high quality.
The price point reflects the attention to detail, and if my new "AR fetish" wasn't bleeding the coffers dry I'd consider buying one.

CGN's resident firearm-weight policeman here.

"Sir, do you have any idea how light you were claiming?"
"I'm going to let you off today with just a warning"

:p

A Trapper 45 Colt is also built on a 1894 action this new takedown 45 Colt is the much smaller model Win 92 action.

I was referring to the 1892, AFAIK production of the 16" barreled 1894 ceased when the New Haven plant closed its doors.
An apples to oranges comparison, the Connecticut built '94's shouldn't even be in the same sentence as a Miroku built Winchester.

Out of the dozens of rifles in my locker, this is hands down my fav.
16" SS '92 Puma in .454 Casull. Ditched the tru glow or whatever they were called sights and put a Marbles on it. Does everything I need.
Mild plinking .45 colts to show stopping 300gr Casulls.

Oddbawl oh how I understand I call my 20" barreled Puma M92 in 45 Colt/454 Casull my 45-70 light I shoot from 200gr RNFP Cowboy loads to 405gr Beartooth WLNGC's in mine.
