Bear Defense?

But were you wearing your tactical tassels? Everyone knows they give the airsoft gun much more velocity

Of course you should be on a horse.

But only little horse...

because it is frown upon to be on a high horse...

No gun necessary, just balls:

These BD threads are always a hoot.Laugh2 . We have had them come up the ladder the same way. Last time it happened I let him come about as far as this one and spat a wad of chewing gum in his face. He went down the tree about 33x quicker than he came up. Best BD move ever.;)

There is nothing wrong with a 22lr for bear defence as long as you use the buddy system !

You should be fine, just remember to use hollow points they have way better stopping power. I can't think of anything else that would be better, unless you used solid points and hollow points alternating in a 25 shot clip. This is really where the 22lr shines, you get the bone crushing penetration of the solid points, and the devastating rapid expansion of the hollow points!! Have you ever seen what those will do to a pop can full of water! I would not want to be that bear:ar15:

Hey guys, would a daisy red rider be good for bears? Im on a budget but I want a pistol grip stock but I have no tools, is scotch tape any good? And I want a flashlight but all Ive got is a lamp, is that ok for tactical shooting? Its already got tassles, I put them on first cause it looked ### without them. I can cut a popcan in half with a handful of bb's so I know its powerful, would it cut a bear in half? It would help me run away if its legs were gone, but I can shoot good running backwards if I have to. Any suggestions?

Perfect! I highly recommend you go this route. In fact I would go looking for bears with this ideal set up! If this set up is still a little too steep for your budget, I would recommend a nice airsoft! This can afford you some major coolness in addition to being effective. I also recommend that you walk in front of me when we're in the bush to protect me from the bears with your cannon!;)

We need these kind of threads, inexperienced shooters need to know safety and proper response to theses real life situations. My two cents is to upgrade to 22WMR, to heck with over penetration if you have to worry about the neighbors, no problem, they will thank you for protecting there dogs, kids spouses lives.
BTW the comment about the girl guides is just awful, you should really think before you type. What good is a retired politician, lawyer, elderly for cripes sake people that don't contribute to society.

Thanks for the thread I needed this good laugh.

Wasn't there a recent thread about how small horses are not as good as large ones with blond wranglers when defending against bears? Is it legal to "hard mount" a bear defense gun(s) on a horse as long as there is a PAL holder within arm's reach?

Silenced paintball marker with bear scent paint, they will run around in circles and collapse from exhaustion. Stick them in the truck and you have a great guard dog for the grow-op.

I`ve got a Sheridan 20 cal. pump up air rifle. The last two Bears I shot with it did not go down and had to be tracked to finish them off. I put this down to only employing two pumps to charge the chamber. This is obviously not enough to give me the `knock down` power required for a clean kill despite a reading of 650FPS when I chronied the pellet. Luckily, for backup ,I carry a slingshot firing .250 bull bearings and this proved capable of finishing the animals off at a range of approximately ten feet. This is closer than I would normally get to a wounded Bear but any ethical hunter owes it to his quarry to dispatch it as speedily as possible. I am considering a change of weapon for next Bear season and am currently building a Potato Cannon firing a half pound PEI potato. Does anyone have experience using these.? I figure that a Bear hit but not killed with one of these may be distracted enough to stop and eat the potato, giving me the chance to take a second, hopefully kill, shot Any recommendation as to brand of hair/Bear spray to use in the Cannon.???????? Thanks for the idea SP.!

Oh, and DIGAF, while I respect the fact that without proper bear-wrangling courses you are loath to approach the wounded bear, I find the most ethical Back Up Black Bear Answer to be my 23 1/2" United Cutlery Stallone Special. Not for the blade, but because I keep two toothpicks and a ten foot length of clothesline in the handle; instant bear garrote.
