It's here: NEA-15 unboxing photos

lifetime warranty, who cares how the rail clamps down. with all the new users, they are going to get plenty of feedback, and if that clamp fails, they'll honour the warranty I'd assume.

I use DD QD sling mount that attaches to a side rail, closer to the magwell on my other guns. The only attachment point I see is closest to the front. What are my options if I want to attach sling mount closer?

and about the colour, does it matter? are you shooting it on a course or taking it to a show and shine?

obviously i wouldnt pick a gun on it's color..... The fit and finish of item i buy is a large issue though as imo it can be a great insight to the actual engineering and quality of the product beyond it's looks (not always but alot of the time) Reference HK, SAN, KAC, BCM, GLOCK and the list goes on....

I'm definitely excited to see how it fairs in the accuracy department with the polygonal rifling. Liking the lack of a M4 cut, too.

As for the colour, I seem to remember them saying that was due to the depth of anodizing or some such? Also long as the finish holds up and the rifle shoots reliably and accurately, who cares what colour it is?

exactly

Its not that it clamps, its that it clamps twice, on the sides instead of out of sight on the bottom once.
It provides more holding power. Also, I was told one of the reasons was to not blatantly copy the Troy rails.

I see no problem with two clamps. You guys seem to keep forgetting this rifle costs under $1000.

I've got a Sampson rail that has the single clamp on the bottom. If it's not installed perfectly, it will slide forward. More clamping power sounds like a good idea to me.

Im wondering why the finish on the hand guard is so grey compared with the rest of the rifle, looks kinda two tone? is it a different type of finish than anodizing ?

in that pic it looks like the freefloat tube rail is lower then the receiver rail. that could mess up a scope bad

Bolt carrier key is staked, castle nut is not. Which suits me fine as I want to put a sling plate and milspec tube on it anyway.

Range test is set for tomorrow.

Er... komrade.

Spasiba komrade!

Edit: I have to say that it mystifies me why they would not stake the castle nut. It is literally a 30 second job with a $10 tool. It really is an important thing that, if overlooked, can f**k up the function of your rifle and usually at the most inopportune time.

Well, you really should not be mounting scopes in such a way that they bridge the upper and the rail.

That said, if they are out of alignment, it does mean that your irons will have to be mucked with to get them lined up. If the misalignment is severe, that will give you headaches with some irons.

With CNC machined upper and lower as well as CNC machine free float forend.

Show me another rifle with those features that costs anywhere close to the NEA.

Is the NEA the bestest looking, blackest rifle of the bunch? No but then it doesn't cost anything like what most AR's cost and has some pretty nice features.

To be honest I am not a fan of the rail clamping system but the rail works, is solid and feels really good in the hand. The attachment system seems a little minor in comparison.

I can't wait to see their shorty versions.

I'm in for headaches then. I only had 10 minutes with mine before I left for a long weekend, but, I'd say the end of the 12" rail is easily 1/8"-3/16" off the bore axis to the left if I remember correctly. I didn't have time to investigate it further, but, it did appear to be clamped down tight against the receiver.
