I want an XCR.

XCR has more rail real estate than any rifle, you can bolt on just about every boat anchor and kitchen sink you can imagine, you have 3 differenrt caliber to pick from , the stock adaptors that will let you use every AR stock on the market.

Seriously, Just what are you really looking for?
I'm sorry to disappoint you bean, but it appears your internet sarcasm detector failed to go off. :p

What pushes the envelope for the AR and M14 clone crowd are the U.S. subcontractors manufacturing parts and upgrades for the U.S. military. Case in point the proliferation of replacement BUIS for the M4 or M14 upgrades to DMR configuration. Build a better mousetrap and maybe land a fat U.S. government contract. These milspec items do make there way down to civvie street, though can be hard to find sometimes.

Two examples from my Norc shorty build: Smith Enterprises Extended Bolt Release and Navy Brake. Both milspec, both available for civilian purchase, both sometimes on back order when production is earmarked for the military.

XCR upgrades have to be sustained by civilian sales and the XCR most likely would only have a small portion of the black rifle crowd.

Very true the black rifle crowd I think is way to stuck on the M4 aka AR15 as the do all end all of the military type rifles. I think the XCR is a great change to that and if some people would embrues the change with rifles like the XCR, SCAR, and ACR maybe just maybe they might realize there are better newer options.

i belive only because the AR 15 has been around for so long thats how it became so popular with the civi market.

dont forget when th m16 first arrived it had all kinds of problems. and ar 15 dont run dirty well a bit of dirt or mud and click is what u get not bang.

of course im talking my compareson for battle coditions/hunting.

AR has been around for more than 50 years now, but the aftermarket products didn't come into existence, until the last 10-15 years. If consider the amount of time and money have been pour into the AR family of rifles vs the time and moeny spent on developing the XCR, it is like comparing the sun and a grain of sand.

you are correct with that. what i was trying to get accross is that there are other options other then the AR 15 for differnt people and differnt jobs.

only over the past few years has any manufacture try to come up with an alterative gun to rivale the AR 15. and i belive the the XCR, ACR and the SCAR can be those gun's.

I just want RA to come up with a 458 SOCOM conversion kit for my XCR-L...

I have found the brass and have all of the other reloading components already for my 45-70...

Come on RA help with my dream combo rifle 223/6.8SPC/458 SOCOM = awesome...

while not a 45/70, or a 458 SOCOM, rumor has it that a 338 Federal may happen for their new M platform. bigger is better, no? ;)

I friends brand new .223 XCR Failed today on it's first trip out. The bolt catch pin broke off after firing only 2 shots. It seems like it was shipped with the wrong mag so it may not be the xcr at fault , but the guy who packed the box. Not sure how the bolt catch would get damaged with a mag issue ,, maybe someone can explain ? After closer inspection the rounds seemed to be resting very loose ,, like it was a 7mm mag ( probably is ). The 3rd round didn't fire and looked like this( see pic) . He/we were more than a little dissapointed. I had plans to get one for Xmas but this level of QC is very discouraging. Has anyone else experienced problems like this right out of the box ?

Would it have anything to do with possibly using the wrong mags?

Yes , i'm sure that would cause a problem for loading LOL. I guess he was all excited and stuck 3 rounds in the clip , not noticing how loose they were , fired and broke the damn thing . 2mm difference is not a lot so they do stay in the mag ,,just not tight , obviously:rolleyes:. We didn't have any 7mm rounds to confirm our diagnosis. My concern is ,,how do you get the wrong mag with a gun that costs almost 3 grand . That's a quality control issue so i'm just wondering if it's a common occurance before I consider buying one.

I'm assuming you mean 7.62x39 mag... anyways, talk to Wolverine/wherever you bought it. The mag should be exchanged for the correct one and the bolt catch replaced. Really no excuse for that.

I don't think the occurance is that common, though I have heard of a couple of broken bolt catches before. Mine is still going strong after 2000 rounds and a carbine course.

What kind of 7mm round are you referring to?

CC

Sorry, I'll be more specific next time

Yes ,, 7.62 or maybe it's the 6.8SPC mag, without any markings or ammo to try it's a tough guess. I'm sure he has already contacted the store and will be taken care of asap. I'm still interested in one for a Coyote killer this winter ,, just curious if it was a known issue . Thanks for the reply.

I'll pass along the 2K round thumbs up !

Its a MAGAZINE btw...this is not the gun/the companys fault. its the low paid, uncarring packager to blame. I am SURE this problem will be taken care of for you if it was the wrong magazine put in the package.
