762x39 pet reloads

All good info. The subsonic rounds sound great. None of the loads so far are anything wild. I would be hesitant to go much over the stock bullet weight with any of the standard velocity loads. Nice to see that it is doable though. I want the action of the semi to cycle. Most of my good reloads will be fodder for an AR. The SKS gets the Czech. S&B? surplus. My bullets on the Czech surplus mic to 0.3085, how does that compare to yours? I have noticed a huge difference in bullet dia's from manufacturer to manufacturer. That seems to be why reloading info is always stressing the internal volume differences, as pressure would be different even more so with larger dia. bullets. Keep those pet loads coming :sniper:

My Lee moult drops a .312-.314 bullet depending on mix and I size them to .311 as X39 surplus is usually .310. Works great!

Hmmmmm....

Wonder if I could get this pumped up enough to cycle my XCR, would be interesting to see how it would shoot...

My pet load for 7.62x39mm: Lapua brass, Federal LRP, Sierra .311 125 grain SP, 25.5 grains of Reloader 7 with OAL of 2.208". My CZ 527 LOVES this load, less than 1" at 100 yards. Best group was .463" for 5 shots.

Until there is very cheap brass around (like what we pay for .223), then I just can't get excited about loading 7.62x39. With Czech surplus around, MFS, Norinco and PRVI being fairly reasonably priced, I just can't sit at a reloading bench to try to make a more accurate load. It just isn't economical financially or time wise.

sask

Are you shooting a bolt gun or a semi auto?
I have the CZ 527 and I have shot a number of factory loads, but my handload with Reloder 7 puts them all to shame. FS

Can the surplus green cases be reloaded?

I just discovered that they can't , at least not the ones I have. I tryed to remove the primer and ruined my decapper. It seems that they don't have a flash hole in the middle but rather 2 set to the sides. Now I have to figure out where to get a replacement decapper for my die.
