EESA Movember Charity Match

So your email conversation with the ipsc Ontario president didn't count?
Fwiw I forwarded you a copy of the original email with date and time stamp attached

Team ESSA awesome job, the money raised to help fund cancer research is great way to show our communities that we do care about our neighbors. I ran a fund raiser for Breast Cancer research a few years back and they have recently asked if I would run another.

I tip my hat.

not sure what the big deal is here. You had more then enough time, the match date was set a year ago. Part of the process, nothing new. If you want to hold an IPSC match there are standards to be met, this is how those standards are ensured. The massive Level 1 idea sounds good except for the fact that thr RO's are still going to have to do the same workload as a level 2 but without the points and it won't count towards classification. all the md has to do is send the stage drawings(which they are making anyway) off and someone else does the work. Sometimes things have to be altered slightly. the better the designs the less chance they will need to be modified. You could hold USPSA matches but then you'd have to affiliate and send of activity fees.

Oh for level 1 matches the requirement should be to BLINK your eyes twice.

now............if someone were to put on a match that was fraught with problems.

THEN YOU DEAL WITH THAT CLUB AND THAT MD to find a way to improve them.

My way is much less invasive.......and I like less invasive things.

just as invasive, just at a different point in time. Better to ensure a proper match in the first place then to deal with a shjt show after the fact.

How on earth can you say it is just as invasive?

Anyway.........no problem. I am not concernerd with L2 matches anymore. That is indeed the least invasive.

So John...with the exception of CR...I wonder how all the other hard working volunteers at EESA feel about your latest round of antics?

Nice job with the fundraising...just too bad it almost always ends up like this.

I certainly can't speak for the others in our IPSC crew but I am with John and Craig on this one, I spent 23 hrs on the range this weekend for this match not including the 7 hours in the car to drive there and back three times or the $120 in gas I put in the car, does it matter to me that we will only be having lvl 1's from now on absolutely not...

At the end of the day we will still be shooting and having fun with our friends and that's all that matters, we just need to get the ground hog a shooting rig, I don't care if it's IPSC, IDPA, Uspsa etc. Life is too short for all the bull crap...

Doesn't bother me one bit...our matches will still be awesome and the people will still be fun to shoot with.

Matches at EESA are rarely about the points/level, but about the quality of the match. John has done an awesome job with organizing our events and dedicated untold hours to this over the years.

I for one am perfectly happy to get 1 point as an RO - as long as the match is top quality then that that's all that matters to me.

Actually my question had nothing to do with RO points or match levels...

I'm sorry Quigley....when you said 'antics' I figured you meant John's decision to stop running Lvl 2s in the face of what he sees as meaningless control policies, instead choosing to focus on high-quality lvl 1s... to which my answer is clear.

If however, you meant 'antics' to refer to his unwavering commitment to fighting for the betterment of the sport at large and IPSC shooters everywhere, then let me again be clear - I believe everyone in that core EESA crew you refer to stands with him.

He may fight you tooth and nail when he thinks what you are doing is wrong....but if your house is on fire, he'll be the first guy there to help. What's not to support?

Why not?

I don't think issue with sanctioning EESA or any other Ontario Level II matches need to be discussed here.

This is an open forum and this is the topic of conversation. As long as the people discussing the topic were involved and affected why can't they discuss it? The match was great whether it was Lv.1 or lv. 2. It is a shame that any negative actions be taken against a charitable event.

I for one being an EESA member and IPSC shooter feel great about John's "antics". I wish more clubs had members that pulled "antics" like John! The shooting community would be much better off.

I don,t chime in very often but as a EESA crew member,, I have to back John a 100% on this one.

There are three kinds of people in this world:Those who make things happen;those who watch things happen;and those who just wonder what the heck happen?
John Evers is not one to watch and wonder. He has this amazing drive and dedication in him, when the man takes a task on. He puts his heart and sole in to whatever he is doing.John not one to be apathetic,he certainly speeks his mind but he always has good reason to back it up with.I've watch him put countless hours into the recreational world of shooting over the time I have known him.
So can certainly understand how he feels, you know what life goes on,1 less worry for John and in the end we will all still be shooting at EESA.
