UTS - 15 Review.. Video uploaded

So i got to spend some time with my UTS at the range and in the bush, went out to the range last Saturday morning, and went hunting right after in the evening. I was very surprised how smooth and easy the action is. i shot about 50 rds. #5 shot and 20 slugs, i noticed that if you try to shoot it really fast it might skip a shot once in a while, meaning the shell fails to feed out of a mag. Good thing it doesn't create a jam, just have to rack it again and back to business. Now, that only happened 2-3 times and was always caused by me (not racking the forend properly)... I took a couple very nice Videos, BUT drowned my I-Phone during a hunting trip later on.. so unfortunately at this moment i cant visually prove the goodness of this machine. :) As for hunting with UTS, it was a great experience as well, it was super easy and fast to limit the capacity to 2+1, and i didnt have any problems with it through out a week, with two shells in the mag i could spit them out as quick as i could.. i shot several partridges from about 25 meters.. also several hares and a grouse.. i dont know what size is the original choke, but it delivers pretty tight patterns..
It was a blast of a trip.... and i had a real good time as well as a big smile on my face knowing that my buddies 12.5" 870 weights more than a fully loaded UTS.. :) not to mention the priceless expressions on other hunters faces ... :)
I might go to the range next weekend as well, i will make some more videos with my new I-phone and post it here.. :)

Did you already get your iron sights from Tactical?

My UTS-15 is missing a spring and plastic cap on the right magazine where the shells butt up against the shell feeder, will post pics when I get the chance.....not impressed. I haven't even fed or fired it yet. Glad yours works well. I noticed when I was packing it up to take to cottage...left it at home and took my trusty 870....

No those are my spare irons.

Sorry to hear that, I am sure it will be quickly looked after by the dealer. One thing I noticed, if the mag is empty and you pull the follower all the way to the front then release it and let it slam back on its own, that little piston with a spring will pop out from the follower and end up inside the action. That is probably how yours was lost. Also, considering that that piston is made out of polymer, if it pops out too many times, the retaining lips might brake off.. So DON'T SLAM The follower on the empty mag.

Yes, we are making recomendations to the manufacturer to have these plugs made out of aluminum instead of polymer.

You should also tell them to drill out wholes on bottom handguard so they can sell aftermarket rails to add there for people who like for-grips and mount other stuff to it like that ;)

On a positive note I do love my UTS-15 and the guys at Tactical Imports were great on the information flow when we were all waiting for the equipment. I am sure I will have no problems getting the missing piston piece for mine so I can shoot it.

Question:

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good sling/strap setup for these?

Thanks.

We have confirmation from a tried a true lefty that the UTS-15 works fine without the need for facial re-contruction :D

If any lefties want to take her home and cycle some rounds through it we'd be willing to take back any to those that aren't satisfied.

Oooo...suddenly very interested again.

I wonder what one of my kidneys would be worth on Kijiji...
