UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Hey Driller,

Here are two quick pics of the rear sight. Let me know if there is a specific angle you'd like a pic of.

CDN

Thanks CDNJackpot

Looks good, and if you say it brings the POI down that is fantastic, I dont want to have to guess where the bullet is going when there is a bear/wolf(wolves? :S ) stalking me... I will test it out as soon as I get it to see if my results are any different than yours. with pics of course :D

Hey guys I don't really have the time to read through 170+ posts, I was just wondering how the rossi's have been performing WRT reliability. I want to know if the Henry mare's leg rifle is more or less reliable than the rossi, and therefore worth the extra money! i know about the POA vs POI issues, I just don't want a dud that'll fall apart after minimal use.Thk

any good/bad experiences or advice would be cool thanks

That's what I'm talkin bout! :p

Has anyone worked up a HOT .44mag load yet?

I am shooting 230gr JHP right now but I am dreaming of some 320gr WFNGC lead ammo.... That should stop any bear wondering these woods. :)

I likely won't be setup for reloading until next fall, more curious what the hottest loads fired have been so far.

I am curious how the gun will hold up to max safe loaded ammo...

I am also curious, I was informed that rossi makes a full sized rifle in 454 casull, and that the frames are similar if not the same. Not 100% sure about this info but IF it's the same frame then I'm sure loading 44's a little hot wouldn't be a safety issue.

from what I understand they have the same frame and you should be fine with making some hot loads. I will let someone else chime in who knows for sure though..

There are 44 Magnum loads that send a 325gr bullet at close to 1400fps from a revolver. Just look them up, that should be hot enough.

Anybody had any success with putting it poa\poi at 50 yard yet.

I didn't had the chance to try mine yet, and I was dissapointed to hear the report about the sight being not regulated....

I had a nightmare with iron sight and a martini-henry custom once, sad , sad it never was shot again..queen safe now!

So any sucess yet! 25 yard is to short for hunting ,I think that 50 yard you could go 100 yard with Kentucky elevation fast enough... Maybe!

if you check about 20 posts back I was asking CDNJackpot how his sight solution worked and it did.

The pic on the site for the round barrel green fiber optic sight is what I received, but IMHO and experience it's the wrong pic. I drifted the front sight out, tried to replace it then noticed that the reason it wouldn't tap back in was that the barrel band was interfering with it. So I replaced the original front, added the lower rear and took it to the range. I'm content enough that it'll hit where I point it at 25m and could be adjusted for longer distances if needed.
