PDW builds - Lets see them, and share results

Nobody buys a PDW and sticks a scope on it like that. What was the point in doing so then?

So, the rifle can hit a target 300 yds., so what? Did anyone believe the bullet was just going to fall from the sky after 200 yds.? :p

To hit a target at 300 yards with a 7" barrel? Yeah, it was totally over the top. Half the fun was seeing that setup. :D

No full-length side rails?

I'm glad. I never mount anything on the sides, further back, and I find even with low profile rail covers, it becomes too fat to grip comfortably.

Where the clamp is on that rail, is the perfect spot to mount a 2 point (Vickers) sling.

You can't though on that one.

You would have to run it up front, with the light on the other side (as shown in the pic). Which means reaching around to turn the light on.

The point of that light, is having the on/off switch right where you thumb could touch it without moving your hand.

I made some slight changes to mine. I installed BAD ASS safety leavers and moved the light to the right side so I could get my support hand closer to end of the hand guard. I can still activate it quicly by just moving my support hand thumb. It is mounted just behind the rear cuts of the A2 and I've had no issues except having to clean the lens every now and then.

One other thing that I feel everyone should consider regarding PDW AR's; The PDW AR, in standard chamberings, is ridiculously loud, flashy and concussive in enclosed spaces. It is extremely unpleasant and disorienting even with just a flash hider. Forget about using a brake. IMO pistol caliber PDW's still have their place, just for this reason alone.

Yeah , I've got mine so I can reach the switch with the thumb of my support hand, but then again, I have long monkey arms, and my vert grip is further forward than some would like.

Yes. It's awesome! ;) You need something like a SPEX or PWS CQB to minimize this. Otherwise shooting beside it is brutal. I still prefer full-length rails, if only so I can run rubber ladder protectors on them for a better grip.

Good point. Too bad we didn't live in a free country where we could run suppressors on our rifles. :bangHead:

That is my main issue with the NEA rail. The left rail clamp is exactly where I prefer to mount a sling.

Ideally my preference for lights is 12 0'clock so I don't care about the side rails. In fact if it were up to me, the side rails would be modular and I'd just leave them off, because I don't have any real use for them. But I'd still be stuck looking for a way to mount the sling the way I like them.

Since I spend most of my rifle time with a 58 I'm used to making compromises; I have my light on it at 3 and I find triggering it a little awkward. I am looking at the new Thorntail mount and putting one of my surefires on it instead...anyway I don't intend to run a light at 3 or 9 on my NEA, but I'll still need to figure out how to mount a sling in a way that makes me happy. I'm sure there's a way, it will just probably involve a drill press and a couple of hours of screwing around.

^^^I slapped a brake on my kitty kat and it was ridiculous. the guys on the lanes to the right and left with 7mm mags asked me to let them know when I was firing so they could gtfo of there.
its fricking awesome.

Shhh... I don't want Jeff to know. I want to see him light it on fire.

LMAO :) OK, then I won't say anything to him. ;)

And hence the reason for the SPEX brake.

I built a muzzle device that acts like a flash enhancer. Talk about awsome. It produces a big bright basketball size flame with every shot. In full auto it is something that has to be experienced. :)
