In a way, it's always 4 plates and one designated "stop plate" meaning you can shoot the four anyway you want but the stop plate must be shot last.

So if this takes off, could we be seeing a provincial championship steel challenge?
 
yep im willing if there is demand, i know the ipsc match is next weekend so figured people would be concentrating on that.

if it picks up and we can get a proper set of targets ill be getting us affiliated with the steel challenge association. did hit a snag though that most stages have a target or two at 7 yards and the minimum for BC im told is 10 yards

john explained how a steel challenge stage works, a match consists of 8 different stages and you shoot each one 5 times, throw away your worst score and add the rest to make your total for the stage. its a great way to draws, transitions and shooting fast because you do alot in a short period of time.

Hmm I'll talk to the CFO and see what I can find out. I don't know if that's law or not. I know its a club rule, but we always amend that.
 
It looks like a lot if fun. I am sorry I missed it.
I had everything out I was bringing except the ATT, and my gun belt, and holster. Still have to find those!

I moved recently, and haven't done any shooting since.

I want to show at the next one.

Yes, three stages do. Smoke and hope,roundabout and five to go. Five to go has the one plate at 7 but also 17'1" from center. Not sure if things like that can help for overall distances. We will also start shooting the steel challenge proper here next year now that we have the correct size steel, and at 7 yards when required:eek:
 
SWEETNESS ! ! ! Speed steel is SOOO much fun. And with Mission shut down for the winter as far as SS goes this will fill the void.

When's the next one?

A question on behalf of those which may not be holster qualified or have good drawing holsters or maybe no holsters at all. Do you allow starting from a low ready or similar?
 
we dont require any holster qulaification to use your holster, but i would highly recommend practice at home or at the range before trying to draw and shoot on the clock. we will ask you not to use your if you cant use it safely though.

holsters are not required for rimfire and for practice nights if you dont have one yet for a centerfire then you can shoot from low ready as well for practice till you get one.
 
No problem on my end. I'm BB'ed and have been shooting a lot with the Chilliwack IDPA group as well. I was asking for the sake of a couple of friends that I've been pushing to come out for Speed Steel which don't have holsters.

I'm not seeing any notice on the club's calender of any future Speed Steel evening. I'll keep watching this thread for a notice of something for January.
 
We on for tomorrow night? I'll be there about 7:30 (work). But the caretaker can open the steel up for Heavenisallie if he gets there before then.
 
i'll be there for 6.15, i need trigger time on my new gun to fix my horrible trigger pull anyways even if no one else shows. anyone other than slavex and i going to show on such short notice?

slavex, can you coordinate with the caretaker to open the steel for me?
