Yes it would be cool. But ultimately a semi auto shotgun will hose it. My Beretta Urika II while not having the mag capacity would initially completely shatter the UTS15 for firepower. pump away while I've already unloaded 4 shots.

the video above is a news of Chinese PLA Sniper training. skip to 0:51, The sniper rifle they use is Type88 military service Sniper rifle, the same thing that we were discussing here(only difference is the caliber).
And what they do with a Type88 are long range shooting, on boat shooting, helicopter shooting, nightvision shooting, in such heavy duty situations the Type88 performed accurately. I'm pretty sure that the Type88 is good enough to be a sniper rifle for our "Civilian purpose"(will you shoot a deer from a chopper? or shoot a goose from a motorboat?). What really matters is the skill of the shooter.

Pretty sure those are in 5.8x42 as opposed to 5.56x45. I've yet to see how this export variant performs.

You know; every so often I come back to visit this thread just to see what everyone has to say about this firearm; most never having shot one...let alone hold one.
I've had the pleasure of owning (and still owning) and firing a multitude of firearms from most OIC classes, modern "black rifles" of sorts and consider myself experienced in their usage.
I have one of the original ones imported and sold here by Kin (#7 to be exact) and although not having shot it much (still less than 1000rds) I will say this:
-had a Swiss Arms; sold it
-had numerous XCR's; sold them
-had a Tavor; sold it (but bought another for the Missus)
-had AR180b's, AR's, blah blah blah (place your wondergun here)
Oddly enough, kept the Type88 through it all though. Why? As I've said before in other threads, "she ain't the Queen of ther Prom but she's the one that you take behind the bleachers and marry later".
When you compare trigger pull, length of pull, grip size, ergonomics, barrel length vs platform, NO JAMS experienced, optics and accuracy...it became my "jack of all trades" rifle.
Out of the box...non-restricted, an excellent quality optic, uber reliable and ready to go.
Is it built as well as a Swiss Arms? Likely not but by the time I buy the Swiss and then an optic...
Is it more reliable than an AR? Sigh...that's one no one can answer. I've had cheap Oly Arms AR's work flawlessly for years and pricey Bushies messd up out of the box.
Does it have the pedigree of a Tavor? Does it have the "manliness" of an RFB? Well I have them both and what it doesn't have is the mushy trigger of the Tavor or the cheap feeling of the RFB (and I like them both).
What it is is a great DMR with a 24" barrel and great optics in a platform lighter and slightly smaller than the HBar and with no quirks.
I personally want a rifle that goes bang with every trigger pull and I really don't care what name brand is emblazoned on it...that's for the folks who care about what other folks think about their stuff...
After all; I'm sure some still wear designer jeans too...

I read some reports about the Type 88 sniper rifle.
Overall quality better than Type 85 sniper rifle(Chinese copy SVD). But still not good enough. That why Chinses army introduce new bolt action sniper rifle in 7.62X51 and 12.7mm.
the average group about 2-3 MOA. the best group is 1.5 MOA, by using sniper ammo, and turn off the gas piston, function bolt action. (5.8mm model)
Disadvantage:
1, bipod attached to the barrel, there are 0.6 MOA difference between with and without bipod.
2, the metal for muzzle break is too thin.
3, the quality for scope.

When it comes to weapons, the Chinese have pretty good kit.
I might get one of these when/if funds permit. I'm not really the biggest long range shooter in the world, but this looks pretty neat. Also, I highly doubt it's a piece of crap. With the exception of their M1A copies imported into the US in the late 80's, the Chinese don't send us a whole lot of junk weapons.
Will it give you record breaking groups out to 600 meters? No, but it's not made for that. If you want to put five shots in one hole at half a kilometer, go get a bolt gun.
I'm happy TI is bringing this in, always cool to see diversity at the range!
