When is the Ruger 77/357 out In Canada?

...Why can't it? Cause you need the lattest and greatest barrel burning super magnum to kill a white tail? .30-06 or BIGGER right? :jerkit:

Our grandparents killed them with much much less...

This is indeed true.
A 200 grain cast bullet from a 303 at 1350 fps will shoot the entire length of a mule deer ( Texas heart shot) breaking every rib and the bullet ending up under the hide in the neck.

A 158 grain bullet at 1450 fps from a rifle will do the job on a mule deer as well - one shot - bang flop - has been my experience. But I wouldn't shoot at rangers further than 150 yards because of bullet drop.

Wrong!...he used a .30 WCF! :)
IMHO you don't need a magnum caliber to drop a white-tail, .50 BMG is adequate if you're mindful of shot placement.

Looks like you have found your new go-to deer rifle then!
You may fall in the exact demographic category that Sturm-Ruger had in mind when they put these rifles into production.

I have no idea of what demographic I fall into. The deer I got with a 357 was in a Rossi 92 lever gun. I have also killed deer with a .45 caliber round ball from a percussion rifle - no need for a second shot.

The last deer I shot this year was with a 30/06 at about 250 yard using federal blue box 150 grain ammo. The first bullet disintegrated in the front shoulder and only got 2-3 inches into the animal. only the jacket remained The second took out the heart and lungs and went right through. It is my opinion that bullet design and shot placement is far more critical than the caliber.

You can...the say so in their video but because they cases are shorter you can get them "rim locked".

So load them in one at a time of use SWC rounds instead of full wad cutter so they will feed better
Is this "rim lock" unique to the 77/357? I have shot .44 Special in my 77/44 and while they don't shoot particularly well they do function through the rifle with no "rim lock."

As a 77/44 owner the .357 version doesn't hold that much interest for me. I'm happy with the 77/44 and don't think one extra round of a lesser power round is worth the bother.

I am unsure...I think they just have it in there as a might occur thing so people don't loose their #### if it happens.

If I owned a .44Mag revolver and had deeper pockets I'd get the 77/44 but I do not and I already own a 4.2" Stainless GP100 and I think the 77/357 would be a good partner for my wheel gun :)

Gunblast had an article a while ago on the .357 mag in the M94 compact. IIRC they had the 180gr boogying along at 1800fps - that would make a nice, mild deer load.
