Hey guys, i recently purchased my first SKS, a nice Russian 1951 refurb with matching numbers, laminate stock, hand picked by me. I removed the stock and put an ATI 6 position, left folding stock. I also installed a forward grip/flashlight. The flashlight im using is a Streamlight Scorpion. Tapco 5/20rd mags. I also picked up a few cases of surplus ammo. Took it to the range last week and had a blast! So much fun! Shot about 300rds with no issues at all. Very happy.

Nice rifle! I hope you kept the original parts somewhere safe. Enjoy it as is, but trust me - the day will come when you will enjoy it a lot more as it was.

Yeah dude!! Lookin' BADASS!! I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. Best $200 I ever spent! That rifle is soooo much fun.....Biggest mistake was handing it off to my 13 yr old son for a bit--now I need another sks if I ever want any trigger time at all.....not that I really mind.......I left mine stock for the Old Russian feel--needed no adjustments right out of the box either!
BTW- Airdrie is great town--got family there. Where do you shoot?

I kept everything. i like the original look too, but i love having the option to dress it up.

It is totally great to have that option, the gun comes apart like Lego. You can also buy another one and keep it original, they're so cheap. But once you get more than one, they multiply like rabbits. Ask me how I know...

Im really enjoying the rifle, and burning through lots of surplus ammo! I have a quick question though, what is that smell that the surplus ammo puts off? doesnt bother me or anything, just curious.
Thanks.

Did you get the inspiration for that build from the Dippers' pro-LGR posters? If not, maybe you should sent a pic of it to Nycole Turdmel, and let her have a conniption fit!:)

I love when people customize their sks to their liking, as it is fun and inexpensive. However that pistol grip/light is "meh" for me

That smell is sulfur. It will rust your gun barrel badly if you don't clean it out right away after shooting.
