I can't vote - No AR on the list.

I hate those stupid toys with a passion - Broke TWO C7s when I was a militia wog in the late 80's. WHo knew that a 150 lb teenaged toothpick pulling on the charging handle was a dangerous load for the part? Yanked it right out the back of the receiver! THEN there were the cracked butts, and don't even get me started on the thermold mags of the day.

Besides which, who wants that stupid spring sproinging away under your cheek? If I wanted to hear that kind of noise, I'd bend over on the bed and let Kim Jong Il's spirit invade my lower GI system with his weapon of ass destruction, with my face pressed into the mattress.

I hate ARs. They are vile, unreliable, cheap feeling, DIRTY rifles. I have never seen any other firearm that gets so filthy, so fast. They are like the Xtina of the rifle world, only now they aren't teenagers any more, and the weight keeps getting packed on to accessorize them, trying to maintain some market share.

YMMV, but I'd rather have a just about ANYTHING on the vote list, rather than an AR.

Interesting take, though not surprising if you are comparing a first-gen C7 to othermodern offerings. The AR has evolved into a much better platform since those days ;)
 
I voted Mini-14.

I don't think it's the worst black rifle ever (that spot is reserved for the original SA80).

It is; however, the most overrated "black" rifle (which it really isn't... more of a tacticool with the appropriate stock ranch rifle). Yes, it is reliable, but it's a scaled down M14, and why the hell would you do that to a perfectly good design. To top it off, it's not even as accurate as the design it was based off (as others have mentioned, it patterns, not groups)! Usually when you modify a design, you actually improve it...

One of the reason it's so popular is that owning one trolls antis. They make it out to be an unholy baby killing machine, when in reality, if the baby was past 25 yards, you couldn't even hit it! (I hope this isn't going too far... It's all in jest. :redface:)

I don't mind the mini14. As a stock rifle the accuracy seems acceptable, a few bills of investment and the accuracy can be excellent. Only thing I don't like about it is the magazines it takes.

That's the laminate target model he's using. Thumbhole not pistol grip. As Ive said before they are accurate.

Funny about the Mini14 being a scaled down less accurate version Of M14 etc by another poster. The same could be said for the AR15. The AR10 308/5.56 came first.

Really? I have always been under the impression that the C7 was one of the top quality variants of the AR platform?

Seems you are the only soldier in the world with this problem "I find this odd" The C7 and C8 are the best of there kind "hands down" our SF would not settle for junk like the SCAR :stirthepot2:

The AR is one of the best combat rifles out there right now "all the experts are on my side ;)"

I'm guessing a Colt/Diemaco rep told you that - lol.

The original C7 was an M16 copy using a cheaper furniture set that tended to crack in the cold and TERRIBLE Thermold mags that everyone involved has now conceded to have been an EPIC FAIL. The CF no longer issues these rifles. I believe the last of them that were't converted to an upgraded model were donated to the ANA last year.

The C7A1 and C7A2 were VASTLY improved over the original C7 with its integral carry-handle and really are top-tier as far as M16 rifle variants go.

It has to be the retarded half brother of the M14, that somewhere along the lines was sodomized by a bubba'd SKS.

Magpul looked at it and said, "Fuuucked if we are gonna make s**t for that!"

Tapco came along and figured there stuff sucked enough already, a little more couldn't hurt.

Its obvious that the MENTALLY INSANE are drawn to this gun, like fat kids to cake, or CGNers in the OT to crazy POF chicks.

Edit: This is a gun that even Norinco won't want to copy.
