Thumbs down to this hunt.

The guy who is in this video (xdmatt1320) is not the same one who posted the Elk shooting vid (reddeercanoe).

What are you tryin' to do here, bud, ruin a good witch-hunt?

We can tell nothing from the video other than the reason the guy was breathing so hard; it's from carrying all that ammo around.:p But I would give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he took his initial shot at a specific animal and perhaps felt that first shot connected. Then he was simply doing what MANY HERE ADVOCATE: shooting until the animal is down. We can't tell anything different from that video.

The wolf/coyote video is very fitting for this thread....guy in video=coyote/cgn ethics committee= wolves.......nobody else notice?.....;)

....big difference between shooting at and missing a single deer.....

Flock shooting could wound or injure several animals with 1 bullet.....

One of the cardinal rules of firearm saftey.

Be sure of your target and beyond.

Deer drives kill/wound a lot more than one deer at a time partner.

Also like how you worded it "big diff in shooting and missing a single deer."

"Flock shooting could wound and injure several"

After viewing the video, there are many unknowns (many mentioned already), so to me I'll simply assume this chap was shooting at one target, albeit having many challenges hitting same, if in fact he did.

I recently read and commented on a moose shooting thread. Many commented the fact you keep on shooting until the animal drops. I would assume these people would do the same with an elk...

What makes me laugh is some of these same people now laugh or critic this video. Not sure what is happening here...;)

What is happening here that is different, is the idea that you keep shooting until it drops if you actually hit it with the first shot. A corollary is that you don't take the first shot, and you certainly don't keep on firing random misses, if you can't hit it at all.

Can you see what's happening?

Despite all the different comments, you have to ask... why would you post a video of yourself shooting at (and missing?) a bunch of elk.

Further more, he commented on a video about a Feb Elk Hunt. In Saskatchewan, this means he's either in Zone 6 or 33.

Gun discussion. Definitely an X-Bolt. Leupold scope? Short action?

Thinking along the lines I was in post 52........

Correct on the gun combo......

All I was trying to say was that the guy probably doesn't know any better. I've been on hunts where people have missed animals, and I've seen them shooting offhand standing the same way he did. I simply explained to them how much steadier you are when you lean on a fence post, tree, or even get down on one knee. No one had ever told them that, and they hadn't practiced shooting that much. But, they are grown adults, and I can't physically stop them from grabbing a gun and heading out. I can just choose not to hunt with them if they act that way, and don't want any help to change their style. Also, the camera is a cool idea, if you have the right content to film. Missing at a bunch of elk, and ending up with nothing isn't my idea of good video, but to each his own. This guy just needs some help from an experienced hunter willing to teach him some stuff. No, I'm not perfect, but no one is.

I think I am gonna start flock shooting animals with my bow and see what happens.:stirthepot2:

I am planning on shooting a Moose,Elk or Deer next Fall .....ON VIDEO....at mininum 100 Yards hopefully 150 yards to 200 yards with a Bow.....I will post the Video on Youtube....just like Greybull Precision, and Best of the West....

If I wound or don't recover the animal I will just keep making videos until I am successful....

Then I will be a GOD of the LONG-Range type:ar15:.....just like the 1000 Yard GURUs on the internet...:slap:

this is why all the hunting should be done with one shot rifles, better yet a muzzy, you would never see this kind of shooting if the guy had to reload from a powder horn

#### what a good idea! You should work for the NDP party :) a lot of folks round here should...some seem good at pushing their ideology onto people.

Now..Now...

Be Careful...

Your starting to sound like the "cp:"...........

s**t what a good idea! You should work for the NDP party :) a lot of folks round here should...some seem good at pushing their ideology onto people.

Time to lay down, brain is sleeping, fingers are typing.

:stirthepot2:

Better yet, a spear & a lioncloth..........

hmmm, I do think my beerbelly would look atractive hanging over a wolfskin loincloth

....unless he did in fact hit two, three or more of those elk...

Yeah,I was wondering about that myself.Shooting "randomly" into a herd like that at that distance only to see them run and never being sure makes for bad hunting practices.Since we never get to see him confirm his kill,I'm assuming he continued firing.

The distance isn't all that far... less than 200yds. I would say even closer than that, probably more like 125-150...That brush island you see the elk run behind is only about 40yds from him.

I have been playing with my camera, like the one used for this video for the past couple days, and cattle @ 200 look smaller than the elk in the video.
