Tritium Night Sights

What's the reason that people put tritium night sights on a handgun? It's not like anyone really shoots in the dark. At least I never do.

It is another cool feature guys can upgrade to. Like spinners on lowriders, they look cool to some, and for others perform the wonderful function of attracting ho's.

On a more serious note, they don't get used often but like a welder (or any other specialty tool) when they are needed there is nothing else that will do. Had a fellow find them handy when he had to use his Sig 552 on a Jaguar in the jungle. The edge they gave was enough to end the threat. Not having them could have been catastrophic.

Which brings up another point, most defensive shooting is done after dark.....outside of Canada anyhow, so the market for them is quite large.

I was just kind of referring to Canada where you are not allowed to carry or hunt with them. So basically I guess my point is, are they just a waste of money or just a cool factor to have them. Myself, I would rather spend the money on something else.

Just like to add you would be surprized how little darkness it takes for the sights to appear luminated.... an overcast day with shadow on your gun may be enough to make them worthwhile.

there a nice feature on a combat pistol, not nessary for us civies but nice to have none the less. A matter of personial choice,

So... if I want a tank, I plan on using it? Must I justify hiking boots, if I am just going for a walk? Does the fact that I do not intend on having a fire, stop me from buying a fire extinguisher?
Do you question people's jewelry? After all, it serves no purpose...

Why is there always one of these guys in every thread. You post a simple question and get a dumb a$$ answer.

It's a dumb a$s question. Why not would have been a reasonable question.:slap:

Same answer for: bayonets, night vision, body armour, dewatts, camouflage (most critters won't see you wearing orange, if you don't move), 30/5 round mags, 5 round drums, .50 bmg rifles, anti-tank rifles, mock silencers, helmet collectors, gas masks, ... as well as model airplanes, race cars, antiques, vintage clothing...

Because people like them, and some find uses.d:h:

I prefer night sights because they do more. If you don't want to spend the exra money than don't it's that simple! if the gun didn't come with NS I wouldn't buy them if I wasn't sure that id be keeping it for a while.

I wasn't a night sight believer, until I got a Glock 17RTF that had them.

IMO, nights sights are a must for serious handgun business. Having said that, this is the only HG I own that is equipped with NS. For all the rest, I guess, they are the reason one should practice point shooting skills too.
