Question for you, did the C7A1 use the tougher gloss-black thermoset rifle hand guards, or the matte thermoplastic hand guards like the M16A2?

Right now I have thermoplastic hand guards on my clone, but I suspect they should be thermosets.

I know the buttstocks themselves were thermoplastic on the C7A1 series, identical to the M16, but apparently the latch mechanism on the canadian trapdoor is different. I shamefully never took notice of the differences when I last held a real C7A1.

Interestingly, it appears Colt Canada still offers the C7A1 for LE/Gov clients. The one they depict on their website appears to be a Neatherlands Diemaco-marked lower and is otherwise identical to a Canadian C7A1 but with the Tri-Ad mounted. Apparently new production A1's are Tri-Ad equipped... I didn't know that until now. I wonder if any CF A1's have had that upgrade?

I would say that all my handguards on A1 were gloss black. There was definitely a difference in gloss in between the handguards and the stock

Rattle can, or factory green?

For that matter, the green Cy HG's seem to be sprayed with some sort of anti-IR coating or whatever.

Are they green under that, or black?

The rail under the handguard is a GG&G rail. They are super low profile. I got it for 25$ or something.

Yes Phase 5 tactical ACHL. They ship here and with my MIL rebate I paid 36$ shipped for both. They work very well. And they have rounded edges so they don't snag at all.

I got mine on the EE a year or so ago. The guy I bought it from got it from a retailer in Ontario maybe 10 years ago.

Used, they tend to sell in the $375-575 range. New, they are over $1000.

For range use, the Elcan is brighter than the ACOG. They adjust differently, so that's a matter of preference. I prefer the Elcan for target work.

If I had to carry either in Combat, I'd go with the ACOG as it's lighter and can easily mount a secondary red dot.

The C79A2 is supposed to be much more rugged than the older A1's like we are showing. Not sure how the A2 compares to the ACOG, but the ACOG is likely more durable than the A1 as the A1 mount does't have a great reputation for taking abuse and still holding zero.

Mine is a C79A2 on my pictures.

Hold zero no problem. Base is upgraded ( springs ) and the adjustment shaft is also better. The rest is the same.

I find the eye relief way better then any ACOGs. Better field of view and light transmission is better but it's too heavy. I like the zero adjustment, base and balistic reticule on the ACOG more. Oh well... Putting a big fat post on the bottom of any reticule is plain stupid. How are you suppose to hold without seeing the target?

You sound confused. And the one at TSC does not have a "crooked" maple leaf. Might want to straighten the eye balls or glasses.
