For those that think bolt actions are too slow

Pfff.. Me too but only with my Sauer. ;)

And yes they come with a detachable magazine.

My brother used exactly this rifle in Africa with me about nine or ten weeks ago... Pretty.

That really is quite stupid, and shows a complete failure to understand some basic facts about shooting game.

Objections to running, long, or whatever, shots do not come from the fact it is running or long or whatever. Objections come from the fact you should not take shots you can't make. If you can't hit running game, the ethical thing is to not shoot at it. If the shot is too long for you to make, don't take it. It's quite simple really. Try to understand, and not be so paranoid.

Those shots are actually quite short. He can make them. Obviously, he can make them a LOT of the time. If anyone can shoot with that consistency, it is perfectly ethical for him to take those shots.

How many on this board can actually say they can shoot like that? I can't. He is a very exceptional shot.

On the contrary; BlastedSabre is bang-on. It happens almost everytime on forums when the "running game" subject comes up. But all it does is reveal the inexperience of those who like to regurgitate nonsense.

Actually, killing running game such as deer with a rifle at reasonable distances is not as hard as some might think. But there's a right way to do it; its not like swinging a shotgun on a crossing duck. After verbal instruction, really the only way to learn it is to do it. Few people have access to simulated running game practice ranges or to circumstances that would enable the often repeated but seldom done "rolling a tire down a hill" method.

BTW, anybody know what that scope was on that fellow's rifle in the video?

I have an observation and a comment:

-It's interesting that such a pro is using a red dot with no magnification which has a 2 MOA dot.

-Regarding running game, I have only ever taken one shot at a running deer. The rifle went up and I shot so instinctively that absolutely everything seemed to happen automatically. I know I made a conscious decision to take the shot but the fact that it was a running shot didn't make a big impact on me before I took it. It was nearly mechanical. The shot was nearly perfect resulting in a quick, clean kill. The shot felt good and I had confidence in it.

Those who have never been in that situation, I would suggest, simply don't practice enough, or maybe their abilities simply don't allow them to feel confident in the shot.

If you practice, and have confidence in your ability to take the shot, I see no problem with taking it.

Not a hog but it is all I have on tape...

Here is my Rem 700 LSS in 375RUM at the same target.

I can even do it with a single shot.

Perhaps I missed something on your videos, but unlike the hogs in the other video, your targets weren't moving.:p

And here I thought you were just some young punk bragging on the net, but you're actually upper-middle aged............that's makes it all the worse. Laugh2

Waiting for the holier then thou "I never shoot at a running animal" guys to get in here and tell us all about how its too big of a risk and that just because they dont do it no one should.

:agree:

I know a couple guys on here can shoot like that.

The important part of the vid was near the end.
The gun must fit!
Many Rem pump-auto hates don't understand 1/2 the desire for those particular guns is they just seem to fit! Since most guys don't-can't have their guns "fitted" to them, that favours some guns over others.
Why I myself even bought a 760 recently for just that reason.

Ha: edited..mornin Ken:)

I think I am going to have to try that , just gotta convince the ex- wife to push the tire .....I mean push it down the hill of course :rolleyes:And Senior I have a 760 Carbine in 30.06 ...lol

Very true.

Many don't give the same consideration to their rifles that they do to their shotguns.

If you want to hit moving game, be it birds or bulls, a gun that comes up "right there" will make life a lot easier.

Its always a good laugh how us upper middle aged folk can out shoot most of the youngsters...

Your videos show good offhand shooting, but nothing compared to going 6 for 6 on moving game. I'm a decent shot and have tried your thing a few times with pretty good results, but I know at lest ten guys in Ft Mc including Stubblejumper who would have no trouble repeating it multiple times.
