Remingtons don't shoot...... revisited.

If you look through my history you'll see I'm anything but a Chuck fan :p

But the mans burnt more primers and DRT'ed more game than you and I have even seen in our dreams...

I have 2 Savage rifles, but neither has the original barrel on it, since those, while giving "acceptable" hunting accuracy, were so-so, IMHO.
One now wears a Pac-Nor, the other wears a take-off 40X Remington Barrel. [Sure smartened that Savage up!!, :D lol]
Lest someone babble about older Savages, these are both Accutrigger models, so not that old. BTW, only one still has the accutrigger, and it is scheduled for replacement.
I also have a couple of Rugers, but only one has the factory barrel, the other a Shilen. My gunsafes hold plenty of Remingtons, though, and while there are a few aftermarket barrels there, most have the factory tubes on them.
A 222 Remington, a 244 Remington, a 7x57, a 300 Savage, a 30-06, an 8x57, a 300WM, etc, etc.
All shoot very well indeed.
Several are absolutely stock except for trigger adjustment. Some have been bedded and/or Free-floated.
An acquaintance just bought a brand-new 700CDL in 7mm Rem Mag. Does it ever shoot!!
Another has recently acquired 700 SPS [I don't care for the finish] in 30-06...same thing, shoots lights out!
I have heard of substandard rifles coming out of Big Green, but I have recently also heard that BG is listening to the concerns of customers, and is making adjustments to rectify issues.
I think they should drop the 770 series, though! No matter what they do at this point, buyers are avoiding it like a plague!
FWIW, the 3 770's I have shot at the range all shot decently.
Personally, I will continue to buy and use Remington rifles, simply because in my experience, they work, and work well.
Eagleye.

I think senior needs new glasses because, only my lh 06 will shoot that well. 30years of handloading and45 years of shooting hardly qualifys as anewbie. further more 500 to 1000yds is the real accuracy test. Thats where the remys really shine. No body here I know will even consider buying a savage. though I have seen them shoot very well at the local range.

I hear Savage rifles aren't even allowed to go across on the ferry!
Anyone caught trying to smuggle one across the strait of Georgia has it quickly confiscated and thrown over-board.
I'm seriously considering a move to vancouver island. Land of the Savage-free! :p
