OK boys, talk me into a Savage

Why wont you take your A-Bolt out hunting? That makes no sense what so ever!

You mentioned that you shot all these Trophy bucks with your savage in the cold weather, got any pics?

I love looking at antlers and the 2011 buck looks far from a Jackalope!

I could go on and on. As for my A bolt....Every one of my savages will outshoot it and last time i had the a bolt out hunting, the cheap white metal hinged floorplate broke in the cold.

Them are some really nice bucks sksavenger!! The 4x4 from 2011 is really impressive...very nice! That sucks about the hinged floorplate on your browning rifle.

Yeah, I'm a little confused why someone would think the Whitetail that walks out is somehow related to the gun they brought. Here's my 2011 Whitetail and the Savage 111 30-06 that I shot it with.

Thanks WT Junkie. The worst part was Browning really ass raped me for a new one

That sucks that Browning Did that to you.My first rifle ever was a browning A-Bolt in a 270win that my dad bought me when I was 14 years old.in alberta you couldnt hunt big game until you were 14,back in the day.now it's currently like SK ,kids can start out at 12 years old.

My dad ended up selling that gun and buying another one, that was the last browning I hunted with .I actually didnt mind that rifle, sometimes I wish I still had it because it was my first rifle.

You are confused cause you didnt read the thread im guessing. Thats not what the discussion was about. It was about rifle reliability and it looks like your Savage performed excellent. Nice Buck, looks like it had a monster body

No, I read the whole thing, I meant more that its confusing to me that someone could have the opinion that Savage rifles are so terrible that there's no evidence anyone has ever shot nice deer with them.

Yours are very very nice SKSAvenger, a tip of the hat to you.

Hunting the edge of a field in a blind is a testament to a rifles reliability? No offense, because the SK guys have passed on more trophies than I'll ever see in my Ontario-Fudd life....but come on.

I like to hunt shotgun shells with mine. ;) It's a model 11 in .223 with the Accutrigger and Accustock. Under an inch at 100 yards seems plenty accurate to me.

100 yards, using 45 grain Winchester white box:

Working the bolt of a savage Rifle is like Ramming a stick into a garbage can full of small rocks !!!

And the accutrigger....What A P.O.S

My Savages have some of the slickest bolts and the Accutrigger is very nice. Mind you I only have Sako, Cooper and Winchester in my safe to compare them to. If you don't like the Accutrigger, swap it out.

I hunt from blinds? Good thing you told me cause i never realized that  Besides, if you would read the whole thread. It was mentioned not to trust a savage on a trophy hunt in cold weather. And I was asked to provide proof of deer i have shot with savages in cold weather.

That buck I posted wasn't shot from a blind either, what gave you that idea?

Terribly sorry, SK Whitetail hunting is predominantly spot and stalk. Just like ON whitetails....

What I was getting at, was except for the cold, SK hunting isn't really "harsh" on guns/gear like say, AK, or BC mountains....

I shouldnt even say "isn't" because I'm sure the next reply will be "Oh so you know how SK hunting is, being an Ontario resident?!?!" or something like that...

How many hunts have you went on here?

What sort of metric do you want to use to compare conditions? BC mountain hunting conditions aren't fundamentally any different than here on the prairie. Cold, often wet, trudging through field and bush. People keep wanting to come in and call Savages crap, but then have nothing to back it up.

Trust it for big game? sksavenger's deer should have put that argument to rest. Reliability? I can tell you I've been using that 111 for three years in snow and ice and rain with no malfunctions of any kind. Accuracy? Look at all the previous posts of people showing excellent groups.

Did you notice no one ever said why?

If thats all you think its about then theres no point in arguing it.

Snow, ice and rain wasn't really what I was talking about, more about the knockaround, beat it up, slip and slide kind of terrain.

well my savage did just fine on the buck that walked down the bush line until.... SMAACK... he fell over. the 270wsm ss flattened him nicely... it was kinda cold ;)

this is just me but if i have slush/ice freezing into my bolt i should be wondering why im using it for a ice fishing hole scoop :D

but seriously it goes bang everytime and usually very close the the last one that was being fired
