I know the contenders are the Remington 597 VTR, Mossberg 22 Tactical, Ruger SR-22, Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22, Chiappa M4 22LR, and ISSC MSR Mk.II. (Is there any more that I missed?)
Anyways, my next purchase will be a tactical rimfire, and to be honest, it's not a big deal if its restricted, but it defintely gets bonus points if it does turn out unrestricted. The main purposes of this rimfire will be an more affordable and economical way of practising proper form with ARs. Also, my younger sister has expressed interest in my NEA AR thats coming shortly, but she's never shot anything bigger than a .177 chambered air rifle, so this rimmy would be a perfect stepping stone of getting her into firearms, and graduating her to the NEA AR, rather than have start out shooting that caliber. Like I said- bonus points if its unrestricted, because then it could theoretically could be used as a hunting .22.
So out of all the contenders, which one survives, and comes out on top for my needs? Not knowing these rifles- I'm asking you- the rimfire folk of CGN.
