Muzzlebreak?

That is the case if you using TRG muzzle , you need something look like the savage 110ba muzzle brake, there is no dust kick up from the groun, the 2 on the left doesn't do that at all.

The factory brake on my 110BA is very effective, added with the weight of the rifle I can spot my own as close as 500yrds. I would love a few more clones of it to put on another project or 2.
 
Shot the savage at the range several month ago, very impressive wih the brake design, not too bad with the noise.

I am working of several different one, with 1.5 diameter and about 3.5" long, be a bit bigger than the one on the left, with bigger port, about .5" or even .6" instead of 3/8 smaller hole.
 
I would really like to see some make a Levang Compensator type brake for 6.5/6.8/308 for PR hunting rigs
 
I'm not a fan of those "good looking" brakes with dozens of tiny ports - they're a b!tch to clean & keep field ready. Artistic drilling does not equate to practicality.

So far, the ones I like are the SuperComp by GoGun & a couple flavors of Badger Ord.
As far as gill brakes go - they're a distant second, but amongst them, I find the FSC units perform well.
 
Who would that be? I'm in the market for a brake for my 338 lapua.

I doubt that he does individual pieces, with all the work involved to do it right, it wouldn't be worth it. And I know he would not appreciate me giving his name out.

With my original post I just wanted to indicate that the science behind this discipline is very difficult. I don't mean any disrespect to the members here but anyone can make brakes on their garage lathe and talk about how much they know about the science and how great their brake is, but unless they spent years of professional study or are a genius, you can bet they really don't. Sure these "designers" use common sense and some smarts to make their products.... and some of them work pretty good, but when it comes to really designing a brake based on the specific caliber of the rifle, for the specifications of the rifle, the calculations needed are enormous. Just some of the topics you need to understand are aspects of Newtonian Flow Theory, Fluid dynamics, heavy calculus, and much more. There are so many variables and some of the science isn't even fully understood yet.

There are no plug and play formulas you can use. No "How-To" manuals. Nothing that will tell you if you have X Gun in Y caliber, with Z barrel length, "then you need make the brake like this". You have to deal with different issues with each brake, apply different aspects of the science. I was told all of this long ago but I never really understood (or wasn't ready to listen). The wise man who told it to me was just trying to save me months of time and effort. Until I immersed myself in the subject and spent over a hundred hours of research (I'm not joking) trying to understand it that I came to the realization that he was just trying to do me a favor and save my time. I'm so lost trying to understand the science it's embarrassing.

With some designs you can burn through the brake in a relatively short time if you design it wrong or use the wrong materials. Some brake designs can ruin your crown or the leading edge of your bore very quickly if they are designed wrong. People need to consider this before they buy their brake. Go with a company that has a good track record. Ask questions. Ask them how extensively they have tested their products and how many rounds they put through their prototypes before they put them on the market. Ask them if they know anything about Newtonian Flow Theory! :D

It not that complicated, design your brake around the caliber you intended to used on, then a few tweak here and there. There is no rocket science Or black magic, don't make it any more complicated then it is.

I applaud your work, I think it's great, but we'll have to agree to disagree that it isn't complicated.

I agree but nicer on the ears and keeps the gun an target I run one one my three gun AR and its my favorite I shoot much faster with it over the NEA brake I had that push the muzzle down way way to much
 
Be careful with those openings upwards.

On my 300WM, one of the brake pressed front end so hard that the stock kicked my face.

Have to get rid of that brake.
