Not everyone wants to pay that kind of money to play with a caliber, Nosler is also available in 260 but same financial concerns. I was offering a cheap alternative.
Yep - back in ninety-seven I bought a brand new 260Rem - first year issue. Shop had the rifle but no ammo or brass in 260. So I bought a 100 cases in 7-08. I shot/hunted that gun till I sold it here last year with just reloading those cases. Worked well for me.If you don't care about headstamps I've been using 7-08 brass ...
Perhaps this is a silly question, but why not just grab some always available 308 brass, lube it up and run it through your 260 die and neck size it? I've heard a middle step, by running it into a 7/08 die makes things easier, but it seems it can be done without that step just as well.
+1 for the Lapua
It is excellent brass, and the cost isn't ridiculous. 100 pieces of remington brass, approx $70. Or get the best brass made, Lapua, for $99. Its a no brainer.
I read somewhere on a reloading forum, if you want the best results, if Lapua makes brass for the caliber you are loading, use it.
My 2 cents
Not to go off track here. I like the lapua also but have a chance to get some Nosler reasonable. How does Nosler rate???
Nosler brass varies by chambering, because Nosler has brass supplied by multiple sources. My 280AI brass is supposedly supplied by Norma, and it appears to be very consistent in dimensions, but it is a little on the soft side. It certainly doesn't last as good as Lapua.
