Where to find 260 rem brass

260 brass

If you don't care about headstamps I've been using 7-08 brass as there seems to be a glut of it around, and it's cheap too. I use all W-W brass when I can and the 7-08 is W-W where the 260 is rem or fed.

Not everyone wants to pay that kind of money to play with a caliber, Nosler is also available in 260 but same financial concerns. I was offering a cheap alternative.

I use Lapua wherever possible. It may cost more up front, but from my experiences, it lasts longer, which offsets the extra initial cost.

Yep - back in ninety-seven I bought a brand new 260Rem - first year issue. Shop had the rifle but no ammo or brass in 260. So I bought a 100 cases in 7-08. I shot/hunted that gun till I sold it here last year with just reloading those cases. Worked well for me.

Perhaps this is a silly question, but why not just grab some always available 308 brass, lube it up and run it through your 260 die and neck size it? I've heard a middle step, by running it into a 7/08 die makes things easier, but it seems it can be done without that step just as well.

Ellwood Epps(supporting sponsor) has it in Rem brand. I've also bought from Peter Dobson(LAPUA and yes really great to deal with). Get Rem brand if you must but the Lapua is WAY better. I have both, the Lapua, in my opinion, is worth the extra $.

308

I made up 100 from 308 but found I had to neck ream with the 7-08 I didn't have to. Hence my recommendation.

scrounge the trash at range for 243 brass and neck up if you're poor

otherwise call Hirsch and get some Lapua, great stuff

One of my best sources and most reliable suppliers of ammo and/or components is a site sponsor listed at the top of this site page, Henry Nierychlo @ Budget Shooter Supply. Especially when it comes to some of the harder to find or odd ball 'stuff', Henry has come through every time.

Thanks guys I will check with these guys, the only reason I dont want to use 308/243 is I reload both of these and would like to keep all headstamps correct, also I havent done any neck up/down before.
Thanks Shooter

Since you haven't tried necking up or down, now would be a good time to try one of each just for the experience. If head stamp is important to you, you can always just scrap them. Expereince is always a good teacher.

+1 for the Lapua

It is excellent brass, and the cost isn't ridiculous. 100 pieces of remington brass, approx $70. Or get the best brass made, Lapua, for $99. Its a no brainer.
I read somewhere on a reloading forum, if you want the best results, if Lapua makes brass for the caliber you are loading, use it.

My 2 cents

Not to go off track here. I like the lapua also but have a chance to get some Nosler reasonable. How does Nosler rate???

Nosler brass varies by chambering, because Nosler has brass supplied by multiple sources. My 280AI brass is supposedly supplied by Norma, and it appears to be very consistent in dimensions, but it is a little on the soft side. It certainly doesn't last as good as Lapua.

Thanks for the feedback.:) Of course it is 280 Nosler I found might be better than the rem I have now however.;)
