Antartica

going slightly off topic, wasn't there a restaurant in alberta that was busted with a freezer full of coyotes a few years back?

Hey, does anyone know if there are game laws for Antartica and are Emperor Penguins protected? I'm down to 2 continents not yet hunted and would love to club (sorry harvest) a penguin in Antartica just to have hunted all 7 continents. For those of you aghast at such a thought, it's a"bucket list" thing, besides how cool would a life mount Emperor be?

You don't need to go all the way to Antartica to find penquins.

They can be found in South Africa.

Don't know if/when the hunting season is,

but I hear they are more tender here.

Nope

Meh. You can probably source an actual Penguin from one of the many zoos that are culling out some of their flocks. They sell off lions and tigers every now and then, too.
I knew of one taxidermist that was buying them, he was the one that explained it succinctly. Not every animal is suitable for the breeding program, and they gotta choose sometimes.

But anyway, you could probably get one, and have it stuffed.

Once it's in the trophy room, you can do what every hunter does. Make up lies! :D

Trophy room all for real, wouldn't contaminate it like that. Have "to go there and git it myself" before it can enter my trophy room !!!!!
Kinda picky that way.

Technically 3, but I've already booked Australia/New Z dates not final yet but will happen in the next 18 mo. After that Cappybara, Buff and whatever else in South America which is the final continent. Then Penguins?

Does Eurasia count as one or two? Never could make sense out of counting it as two.
While in South America check out the red stag, blackbuck and pigs to go with your buffalo.Do some bird shooting at the same time.

Its not about the animal. If it was he would have 876,650 more animals to go. He is interested in hunting all the continents...just when it comes to Antarctica, there isn't much to hunt, so penguins being the most opportune...

what about bird hunting on the falklands or reindeer on some of the other sub-antarctic islands, would that count?

missed point

Already hunted SA, penguins not the issue, actually hunting the seventh continent the goal. "Bucket list" says I wish to hunt from pole to pole and all continents in between. I have the polarbear, muskox and walrus frrom my end of the world, now it's the other end..........

Yep.

The guys running the place were buying whole 'yotes and skinning them.

Dunno if they were eating them or not. Don't really care, either.

Food inspectors were pretty clear that they were NOT serving the Coyote to customers, but that they were cited for having uninspected meat in their freezer, as I recall the story.

Didn't much matter. After the hairy, out of proportion deal of it hitting the papers and airwaves, they were done. Like dinner! :)

We are fortunate to be able to be as picky about what we consider food, as we are.

Back on topic. A leopard seal and a couple penguins would make a great centrepiece diorama for the trophy room. Maybe a couple penguins pushing one off a cliff to the waiting seal? :)

you may be SOL

canada does have the "Antarctic Environmental Protection Act" which says":

12. (1) Except in accordance with a permit or under the written authorization of another Party to the Protocol, no Canadian shall, in the Antarctic,

(a) kill, injure, capture, handle or molest a native mammal or native bird

there is a permiting procedure, but i'm doubtful as to you success.

my gut tells me the best chance is with the argentines or chileans.

damnit! My bucket list included molesting some penguins... now I'm SOL. Does it say anything about puffins? They're pretty close...

Just go stuff a penquin and tell everybody you were there.
Not much to see or do there anyways. Who's gonna know?;)
And whenever it's not light there, it's dark!:D

penguins

Yep.

Now you're getting the idea, I like it. This is constructive !!! What's your thoughts on calibers and rifles, can just club the pennies, but then there's the cats and seals.
