NEA non-restricted black rifle coming?

What I think:

1) 180b - low end possibility but not going to happen
2) Their swiss arms lower with some sort of new upper - maybe going to happen because they already make the lower and they have the technology for the upper due to their AR work. Maybe?
3) Something completely new like a ACR competitor of some sort?? - This is more NEA style!!!! :)

I think anything like a pistol calibre bolt action would be uncharacteristic for NEA and should be left to the Dominion Arms page.

Considering that they make products for a wide variety of firearms, how did you come to that conclusion? I don't think they're focus is on a single solitary firearms platform.

As smart business people, I'm sure they'd consider manufacturing anything if the demand was high enough and the potential for decent margins existed.

It's no secret that NEA does a lot of export sales. No doubt they're looking at things from a global perspective as opposed to just a Canadian one. Whatever firearm they design or manufacture, it must be exportable and able to be sold domestically.

That's my edjumicated guess...:D
 
this is the first I have heard of this. I cant say I would be in off the bat due to finances, but in time, a non res at or below 1600 would be nice.

but either way if it is an ar 180 copy or some sort of awesome upper for the NEA swiss lower that would be cool!

and if it was bullpup multiply the awesome by 10.

until then I shall leave it to my imagination... :redface:

Exactly. I always keep my eyes open for them on the EE but they really hold thier value, (which I partially attribute to them being non-restricted).

Would have loved to get one of their AR's but out here on the farm an non-resticted firearm is the only practical choice. XCR, Swiss Arms, SL-8 are all to costly for my blood.

If they can meet the same price point as they did with their AR-15s then I know a lot of fellas who will be interested.
 
A billet aluminum upper and lower, AR18 style rifle would likely be able to be competitively produced if you modified the design to use common parts. AR15 trigger group, bolt, barrel, furniture, etc. Don't reinvent the wheel.

As well, the AR18 patents have long since expired, that's why almost every short stroke gun out there uses the AR18 gas system with impunity (SL8, G36, SAR80, SA80, many AR15 piston guns, and so on...). By piggy-backing on the non-restricted status of the AR180B, it makes the process easier.

As mentioned, after the AR15 bulls**t, I'm confident saying no one will ever hear about any new products NEA is making or even thinking of making.

I've been toying around with my own rifle idea for years, testing components on my Armalite AR180B. By making it backwards comparable the classification process is that much easier.

As for people knocking the AR180B quality, I don't blame you. It was built to be cheap. After buying a Stirling built AR180, it's obvious how much potential the AR18/AR180 system really had. Fit and finish is outstanding!

my thoughts exactly,

any new design of black rifles after the registry is gone is going to meet the full anti bias of the RCMP lab, even worse than it is now. It must give a manufacturer pause to drop a lot of money into R&D for a new black rifle knowing its going to be held up forever for approval that may never come.

It is a decent Canadian made gun project.
This rifle could fill the needs forall type of CGN shooters: plinkers at the range, SHTF fans, or coyote hunters....

All we need is a decent priced unrestricted,.223 rugged, AR mag compatible gun in the market under 1K to make any eventual Cannuck gun maker a millionnaire.

This gun would fits the needs of all cannuck gunuts for sure....just my two cents...

Also the name CGN-AR or CGNAR is kinda catchy.
 
i doubt there ever will be a non restricted AR180 being made in canada. the second a canadian made AR180 starts getting mass produced and sold here will be the same day the RCMP label it to be a variant of the AR15 because it looks simlar to a AR15 therefore making it restricted.
