Rock River Arms: LAR-47 (AR-15 in 7.62×39 That Takes AK Mags)

No, I don't. There are 10 round mags available for the 7.62 x 39 (Check Wolverine's) for the AR pistol. As long as they are marked for pistol you can use the 10 rounders in AR rifles. BTW, that is true for the 6.8 SPC as well.

What is the advantage? I don't care if they are giving AK mags away for free. They would still have to be pinned to 5. So all you have is an appearance gun. It couldn't do, here in Canada, what it was meant to do in the US where they don't have silly mag restrictions.

Then don't buy one! simple as that.

I said surplus was an advantage. What more do you want me to say?

I'm partially with you on your last comment. I wouldn't shoot corrosive surplus through any firearm that I was proud of owning. If we're talking SKS's and 858 parts guns - then have at 'er.

I'd have no problem shooting Boxer primed non-corosive surplus ammo through a Rock River AR. If it was a Colt, LMT, Noveske, KAC, or other high end AR - not so much.

Sorry, missed the part where you said surplus was an advantage.
For me, It's not that I wouldn't want to shoot surplus(corrosive) through a 'high end' firearm(or lower end RRA), but I am totally unfamiliar with ARs and cleaning them because of shooting surplus sounds like a PITA
vz58/sks on the other hand, even if they were considered 'high end', is something I have some time with and have no issues with shooting corrosive ammo.

I never said there is a law broken I just don't understand the logic behind it?

BECAUSE WE CAN! :) that and Iam obsessed with buying in quantity, you should see my P-mag collection hehe :D:D:D, and my glock mag collection, and my tokarev mag collection..............hehehe

But you can use all those mags :/

I don't judge guys for buying crazy guns, toys etc... I just don't understand the appeal in owning a bunch of magazines you can't use?

LOL you must have a lot of disposable income to then :p

no, not really. I buy a little at a time plus I dont live extravagant I just contribute more to my hobby than most and my wife has no problem with it as she loves guns too :) and my daughters and sons , Maybe one day they will be worth more OR just having spares is nice or to pass them on to my kids when I kick the bucket. :)

I wonder if they got the idea from Knights Armament's SR-47 prototype. I remember a while back when they announced plans on making these rifles that it was made for USSOCOM after getting reports about guys out in the field running out of 5.56 rounds but had a ####ton of 7.62 AK magazines lying around. It was meant to be used so that you can salvage extra ammo from insurgents while still having that functionality of an AR that everyone's familiar with. So far only 7 of them are made: 6 to USSOCOM, and 1 for KAC to be put into their museum.

Here's a pic of the SR-47 as a comparison:
