Your reminder about your 2005 experience raises a few questions in my mind:

a. Is there anything we should be on the lookout for during our initial inspection of an M305 that could give away the likelihood of such a failure? and

b. Has this ever happened to anyone with a rifle after the first couple of rounds, or is it safe to presume that any rifle that's survived the first few boxes of ammo isn't just waiting for the moment to shoot it's barrel downrange?

I've been happy with my 2009 M305 thusfar and will probably add a shorty, but aside from using a drawstring, heavier goggles and commercial ammo on the first few shots, is there any more satisfactory solution to avoiding this problem?

Good to know that you're ok. Maybe I am mistaken but those issues makes me wondering if those chinese guns are not proof tested at all.

Crazy....

Glad you are ok, serious potential for injury there.

If you don't mind, I would like to know which dealer you bought it from because I would like to support (spend money at) the dealer who will stand behind such an issue. PM would be fine

Probably not with the naked eye. You'd probably have to take it apart and run the parts through an NDT shop.

If yours is working just keep shooting it. Given the number of M305 circulating around and only two of such stories now then I'd say you're probably good.
