New M-14 range report FAIL

I am happy no one got hurt, but this should have never happend in the first place. do they test them before they ship them?
Thats four times this has happend. Should there be a concern?

Now this justifies why Johnone did not accept these rifles for import. The more & more I look at these shorties the more & more I think it was the same plant that made the Norinco 780's.
Glad that no one else got hurt.

You see Rally Guy, that was a secret weapon the Chinese were developing so they could fire bayonets at the enemy. The project was dropped when they realized you can't fit a bayonet on a shorty m305, even if it has the lug. They forgot to send the memo to Canada Ammo

CSIS will be around soon to question you, don't say you know me.

Scary stuff. Don't these guns come jamb-packed full of cosmoline? I'll admit I didn't read every response, but could some cosmo in the barrel be a possible factor?

I still think the Norc M14's are tons of gun for the money, but it kind of makes a used one off the EE (and especially one that has been checked over and/or tweaked by one of the experiences M14'ers) look that much more attractive than a new unit. Let someone else proof it with a box or two.cou:

I think I shall interject here.

All the guns we have shipped since January have been proof tested by us per US mil-spec.

While this barrel issue is not a common one, as you can see from the various posts on CGN, it has happened to a few guns, both regular and short, over the past few years.

Also, anyone who knows of the Tikka/Sako/Beretta barrel issue from a few years ago, knows that this is not an issue unique to Chinese guns.

But not the ones before that?

So anyone (like me) who got the package steel-cased ammo/rifle deal potentially may face this issue. It does seem like it happens at a very low round count so I'm encouraged that I got through 50 rounds without it turning into a harpoon gun.

Are there any external signs to inspect for?

Yes, we started in January. There are no outward signs. Yes, judging by the posts on CGN, they begin to fail after the first round.

If anyone is in doubt, they can return the gun to us for proof testing.

Holy cow. I thought I was the only one who has had that happen. I bought one from Mr. Lever years ago and had the same thing happen only on my second shot. I didnt see it happen or feel any difference in the shots, but after the second one something hit in front of my car. I could see both hits on the target at 50 yards. I walked around the side of the car and found the top of the barrel shroud on the ground. When I checked the rifle it was the same as the pic. I phoned up Lever Arms explained what happened and was told that the barrel was over torqued. He told me to pack it up and ship it back and an other one was on the way to me. Ya it was different to see the case stuck out of the receiver like that.
