Just a quick question,

Was there ever Swedish M38 Mauser carbines built on recievers from around the WW1 era? Or were they all built on newly made recievers?

Thanks for the info. Someone has posted an M94 swede mauser in the EE, but after I checked out the ad, it appears to be an M96/38 carbine. The bolt handle is straight, 1912 dated reciever, no cut out in stock for sling, no nose cap and too long to be an M96. The rear sight screams M96, while the stock is definetly not from an M94. Its still a good deal at 200$ though!

???? They never had a cutout in the stock for the sling, you are probably thinking of other types of mausers. and the m/96 swedish mauser is longer then the m/38, and I am not sure what you mean by nosecap.

What is for sale in the EE would be an m/96-38 (not an offical designation, something that collectors use) or an m/38 made by cutting down an m/96. Hence the m/96 rear sight. But I agree that the rifle is not an m/94. (in fact, I sent the person a PM around 4pm informing them to that point)

Here is a good site reguarding Swedish military rifles.

My receiver was made in 1915 by husqavrana but it has a new barrel made in the 50's but my 96 has been turned into a CG63

Husqvarna never made Military rifles until 1941 to 1944. In 1915, it would have been a Carl Gustafs rifle, except if the receiver is a replacement one. Then, it could have a 1915 serial number.

I was referring to the M94 as having a stock cut out for the sling. I know for a fact that this model does. By nosecap, I mean that metal cap type piece, similar to what you would see on a Lee Enfield No.1 Mk.3. It is a very noticeable piece when compared to an M.96 or M.38. I also meant to say it was too short to be an M.96, not too long. I also PM'd the seller to make him aware that he infact had an m96/38, not an M94.

They may be an excellent example of 1907 m94/14 Swedish Carbine, coming available for sale in the next few months, once Bill C19 becomes law ... ;)

It was rifle #13 issued to No.6 Company, 1st Cavalry of the Swedish Royal Guards. It is all matching and is complete with the original m/94 carbine sling. It is accompanied by an army issue m/14 knife bayonet, which was manufactured specifially for the m94/14 carbine by "Eskilstuna Jernmanufactur AB".

Doug
