On the 7,62 the red (burgundy duracoat) is flatter and darker in reality.
On the 5,56 the handguard is laminated birch from ironwooddesign

I bought the AK grip on the EE but you can buy one from brownells and dremmel it to fit.

So you didn't have to modify the grip retaining plate. Just the grip itself.
