So here is my Dilemma,

Awhile ago i helped a friend start up a company (mostly knowledge and contacts in the industry).

Never took a dollar from him because he was my friend and i wasn't doing any of the ground work, just giving advice and some phone numbers.

He now is finishing his first year with a decent profit margin, the best being based off two contacts in the industry that i gave him.

So like i said never took a dime from him and he respected that, well he called me up about 2 months ans said i'm going to give you something because without you two of my biggest (big for him) jobs i wouldn't have gotten, i tell him no and he insists to the point of saying he would give it to my wife to spend instead (well i am not about to let that happen).

Anyways his says to go buy something gun related so i want another AR its been sometime since i had one in my collection.

Here is where my dilemma starts, WHAT TO GET. With my fun money and the money he is giving me i have enough for a top tier AR 15 (around $3000 to spend before optics and mags and ammo etc)

So its not the issue of getting a top tier AR that's the issue, because i don't mind spending money for the best, the issue is that the wife also wants a Kimber 9mm pistol roughly costs about $1500 all in, she likes the look, and i like kimber so its not a bad gun.

So do I get the Top tier AR with all the fixings
or do i get a mid tier and get the pistol as well??

input guys? I know the brands so no suggestions please, unless something new came into Canada within the last week just suggestions on which route to go.

Thanks

If it was me.........I would get into a top end AR for basicly the same price as a mid tier,You will never look back. Pistols come and go easilly IMO

Kac sr15! Resale value seems great right now, but I doubt you will ever sell it :)

the KA is my choice for top tier, i know it seems like koolaid right now lol, but i wanted one before the hype of lately. Noveske is my second choice (not really a second because its so close to being my top choice lol)

Get the wife a S&W Julie Golob edition, thats what my wife wants, likes the pink on the grip. Then get yourself a nice AR.

Make your wife happy.

Take the money left over and buy a fancy lower, upper, rails etc.

You don't need to buy an AR all at once you can buy fancy pieces as you get the dough and eventually you will have the gun of your dreams.

I say get her the kimber, buy a good upper as the lower has little to do with reliability. On the other hand, it is your bonus, not hers. On the other hand(third hand) an angry wife whether she has a legitimate reason or not is a bad thing. Getting the Kimber benefits both of you as you will likely shoot it as well. Not to mention, greasing the wheels with the wife will likely lead to less flack when you want something else.

Final answer. Get a mid level complete AR or a top end upper, and get the wife her pistol.

haha, she doesn't like the glock, she has shot it before several times, and likes my 1911 better (and not just for the reason she can have girly grips)

Follow kevins advice & TDCs, get her "something" and yourself something to. That way you're both tickled and have fun. :)
