Instead of wacking the S..t out of the FH with a steel bar or something and risking braking the thing, could one not just de-braze the thing with a torch and just pull it off, or would the heat screw up the temper or something in the metal parts including the barel?![]()
It's not brazed, it's spot-welded.
I just took mine off last night (Norc). Gave it a few wacks with a piece of flat bar and a hammer...didn't come off so I got a BFH (for those of you not familiar with hack-jobing, Big _ Hammer, you can fill in the blank). Popped right off, no brakes and hardly any scratches.
I heard the newer Norcs are silver soldered??
They use something similar to silfos which is phosphate based, if I remember corrrectly as we do not use silver for silver soldering anymore. It is brazed to the barrel. I did not want to heat the barrel because I did not know where they brazed it. So, out goes the flash hidder and sight. I am still waiting for someone to come up with a Norinco flassh hidder in Canada!
