Hi, I am just wondering if there are any ways to remove the USGI flash hider beside using the tool kit? I am having an extremely hard time trying to take it apart using a plyer

Have you removed the set screw, are you using castle nut pliers and is the castle nut moving at all ? If its Chinese and this is the first time its been off it may be spot welded on the bottom of the flashider .
Read the stickies on how to get one off as its not that hard really.

Bro you have to loosen the castlenut set screw with an allen wrench, loosen the castlenut screw with special pliers, and then take off the flash hider. If it won't come off, it's probably welded on, so you have to beat that #### with a hammer

Once you've loosened the castlenut screw it should slide off easily. If it's tac-welded just use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to pop it off. Keep in mind that there is a chance the FH will break or that it might take a tiny bit of the barrel off with it.

Good luck!

de brazing

Instead of wacking the S..t out of the FH with a steel bar or something and risking braking the thing, could one not just de-braze the thing with a torch and just pull it off, or would the heat screw up the temper or something in the metal parts including the barel?

It's not brazed, it's spot-welded.

Not sure?

I heard the newer Norcs are silver soldered???? Maybe not, I dont see the chineese spending more money than they have too, and given the price of silver today. I know I cant see any weld spots (tacs) on mine just the discoloration on the FH where they applied heat at the bottom??????

They use something similar to silfos which is phosphate based, if I remember corrrectly as we do not use silver for silver soldering anymore. It is brazed to the barrel. I did not want to heat the barrel because I did not know where they brazed it. So, out goes the flash hidder and sight. I am still waiting for someone to come up with a Norinco flassh hidder in Canada!
Regards,
Henry

I just took mine off last night (Norc). Gave it a few wacks with a piece of flat bar and a hammer...didn't come off so I got a BFH (for those of you not familiar with hack-jobing, Big _ Hammer, you can fill in the blank). Popped right off, no brakes and hardly any scratches.

LOL, With the amount of times this topic comes up in a new thread, I guess it's safe to bet that no one uses the "search" tool.

I have done 4 like that and all of them came off with no damage to the flashhider or barrel. :D. Some people have drilled two holes in the flashider where its welded.

Ahh, my mistake then, I'm only familiar with the 2009 models.

Carry on...

What year is your M-14 Jagers? Was it just stuck, or was it actually anchored with something( Silver solder,..... never heard this before) or was it plug welded on the bottom like the 2007's? I have a 2009 with the lug, and it should remove as per a USGI flashider. I believe I'm correct????

can't see them using silver solder that would not be cost effective when they can just spot weld it on. Or just braze it on just as string a well thou easier to remove.
