Ruger SR1911

Double dipped on the wait list and finally got the phone call Tuesday from the shop on Renfrew Street. Hopefully I get to pick it up before the week ends. :)
Dropped by 2nd week of January @ Reliable and I was 8th on the waitlist, not sure how many they have received/sold since then. If anyone is interested on my spot let me know, otherwise I'll be dropping by there tomorrow and get my name taken off the list.

So where are you going to Christen the new baby? DVC? POCO? Whalley/Surrey :)

I'm heading up to POCO tomorrow to try out the new 45ACP loads (0.2gn increments) on the Scorpion.

I got one tuesday but it's stuck at the range until the transfer gets approved. Got it from CRAFM and it was the last one.

It was my first time shooting .45 and I did poorly but I attribute that totally to my own damn fault :p

I'm a southpaw and I'm used to putting my thumb on the safety but unlike the Shadow the SR1911 lacks an ambi safety. I also probably don't grip handguns quite right and need a good course :p

What are good mags for the 1911?

I just called "said" gun shop and they say that they have not received any SR1911's. Huh, that's wierd.

Isn't poor service from ISG the norm. Call again, prob. get diff. response from each staff

Try the Wilson 47D.
Don't you just luv the 45, thump instead of a ping.

best deal for good quality that I found down here in southwest for my SR1911 were Kimber blued 8 round. $17.99 US, not sure what you will pay?

Hate all the US deals that are usually not available to CDN or double the price by the time they're here.

ie. Wolf Glock barrels are 100 bucks in US with free shipping or $200 here plus shipping.

Now i just need to find the time to go shooting :-(

And what will you do when i tell ya i paid 699$ for this gun ?

On a side note, i'm thinking of putting pachmayr american legend grips for better control and softer shooting. Just for looks, maybe some stainless hex grip screws... it would end up looking a bit like this:

Just to add fuel to the fire, here's another personal review on the 1911 Forum. He had a couple of criticisms, but in answer to "Would you buy another one", he repled:

Absolutely.

As stated, for a budget priced 1911, the only pistols I have to compare it to are the Springfield Loaded and a GI that has some work done to it. The Springfields are slightly more expensive, but still in the same ballpark. All, out of the box, have similar drawbacks, but nothing you're not going to get from any production 1911. Personally, I feel Ruger has done a fine job entering the market, and deserves to be considered right alongside the Springfield lineup when choosing an entry 1911. A lot of options and made in USA, which is important to me.
