looking to start building an AR, need to find noveske lower

Well I phoned Questar and they don't have Spikes or Noveske at the moment. I still don't understand why Noveskes cost 150-180 in the US and 450+ here. The Spike's are 100-150 in the US and 200 here.

Fri feb 3, 3:48pm questar comfirmation order ... Spikes st-15 ... last one. :)

Sorry beat you by a few hours ... was also looking for a noveske gen 1 lower but after a week of web searching with no luck finally gave in for a Spikes after reading many reviews. Its hard to find quality tried and true parts in Canada im finding ... not many choices for lowers unfortunately.
... back to my continued hunt for a spikes NiB BCG

good luck with your lower hunt

Oh well, they have more coming in apparently as well as some Noveske gen 2 lowers at some point as well. I guess I can wait.

What is the point of your post? To let us know Noveske parts arent made in house?

Nothing gets past you does it? Noveske is a builder, not a manufacturer. They assemble nice ARs with good quality hardware for those who couldn't be bothered. Do the research, be patient and save some money. Aero Precision makes excellent lowers for a reasonable price from Arms East, get your barrel from NEA.

I was being sarcastic man. As I had figured the Vltor mark on half the parts was enough for most people. Really doesnt matter though who machines the parts. As long as they are high quality. I would rather a company use another machine shop with better equipment to produce their parts then buy inferior tooling and try to do it themselves. Most of the parts are made to Noveskes specs anyway so, I wouldnt say they are just an assembler. Not that I have to defend Noveske as their product speaks for itself. They are well known to be some of the best AR's on the market whether or not they use their own tooling.

Wrong, they are a manufacturer. Yes they source some parts from other machine shops but not all their components are sourced elsewhere. Their manufacturing base is evolving all the time...

If by make you mean contour someone elses blanks then..... yes?

To be fair, most manufacturers don't make their own barrels either.

Your wrong, John selects and orders his own steel bar stock, serializes each piece and machines his barrels form scratch. He uses pac-nors facility to produce his barrels and he uses his own tooling and processes to do this.

Check your facts bud.

So all they actually make is barrels?

They don't "just" make barrels, John produces some of the best barrels in the world!

They have expanded into manufacturing some of their own parts as well, not just barrels. Essentially John is just using other well known machine shops to manufacturer his own stuff based on his own specs and design. It's actually quite smart, lower overhead and higher quality.

I've decided to just import my own lower from the US (through an exporter of course). The only way to make it worth while is to buy a few extra so I will most likely buy 5 or six and sell off the extras here on the EE.

Exactly. Why not have your stuff made buy the machine shop you deem best. Sounds like John is a very anal peson too that requires perfection. That is a very good thing imo. That is the kind of traight you want in a AR "manufacturer" or any firearm manufacturer for that matter. I dont have one of his rifles yet but, one is very high on my list.
