The 7 models of Parker hale sporter 303b

Is anyone able to positivly identify and post a clear pic of a Standard no.1?
I am unsure of where the markings may be on it.

I've come to the conclusion that you are the authority on Parker Hale sporters on CGN. Nobody else ever really mentions them.

So if you don't know the answer...probably nobody else does either...:D

were all parker hale rifles rebarreled?

No, not to any knowledge I have read or found. Parker Hale used military barreled actions in excellent or new condition. They sporterized them from military I have only seen matching serial numbers.

The Parker Hale no 4 custom has "Parker Hale Birmingham England" roll stamped on the barrel in front of the rear sight. The barrel it's self was military, just re profiled or cleaned up. This is why there is confusion about the barrels on the 303 converts.

An interesting note:

Parker hale also used (on the Mauser actions) 1903A3 two groove barrels re-cut to have 2 more grooves = a four groove barrel 2 wide grooves and 2 narrow grooves. (the thought was back then the 2 vs 4 groove barrel was the 4 groove barrel was more accurate).

Parker Hale did make barrels for the 1200 and 1100 sporting series rifles as well as the 1200TX, C3, C3A1, M82, M84, M85 rifles.

More to come once I find the source of some more detailed info on the 303 convert. (I want to add accreditation on the source).

I saw an interesting 303 yesterday-it was a jungle carbine-but with a Parker Hale stock.I'm wondering-was this a genuine Parker Hale conversion-or did someone simply restock it with PH wood?Is there any way to tell?

this is a factory convert done by a company called Century arms I think, never seen one up close, they look cool though.
I think they have simply fit a SILE stock onto a JC#5, SILE is the same stock found on the PH supreme's as well as some other companies used them on their sporters too.

Parker-Hale sourced their stocks from Sile of Italy, as did a lot of other gun makers, They could be old stock (no pun intended) or new from Sile (90's era)?...

Parker Hale did offer the No5 or Jungle Carbine in sporter configuration. It was similar to the one shown. Had the Stile stock set and polished blue finish.

Anybody know when Parker Hale started to roll stamp their conversion...believe mid 1970's however it's a quess on my part.

Parker Hale made some fine sporters...very much under valued.

I have what seems to be a Standard built from a No.4Mk2.

I acquired a No.5 that I don't think was a Parker Hale, but it came to me fitted with PH A20 and A21 bases and the high rings and I think they are very good.

so-the Jungle Carbine that appears identical to the one posted could be a ''Parker Hale'' even if it had no stamping on it?

Where can the monte carlo stock for a 1918 303B be purchased is anyone selling stocks for those old guns? I would like to update old straight miltary stock to a more comfortable fit.

Not all rifles had "Parker Hale" stamped on the knox form, many did not. Look on the receiver to see if there is a PH stamped under where the bolt handle would go down the butt socket, right hand side.

Finally, a PH thread!
I picked mine up at auction back in October. I remember trying to find info on it before bidding on it, but had little to no luck (on CGN or otherwise).
Mine's on top (clearly). Sorry for the low quality image.

I'm relatively certain the scope nor the mount are stock.

Does anyone know where I could get a No4 Custom butt pad replacement? Mine's in decrepit state, and I'd like to avoid one of the "grind to fit" type pads.

I ordered one of those rifles from Century. The action appeared to have been dipped in a vat of flat black paint...the stock was junk.

It was so bad that I was outraged...so I returned it.

My experience....

Parker hale No 4 Supreme (Ex Maltby No4Mk1 1942) Shot very well but was not so pretty...

Parker Hale No 4 supreme (Maltby No 4 mk1 194? convert to No4Mk1/3) Pretty wood very good shooter.

Top rifle is short in the butt length (Cut) was like that when I got it... Front sight hood if not correct. but good shooter

Bottom has correct front sight hood.

I might add the bottom rifle has a No1MkIII* mag, it would not load well with a No 4 mag,...go figure

Nice, they look better with oiled wood instead of varnished.

Did the mags each have the right follower? Hope I'm not insulting your knowledge but sometimes they get switched because they look so much alike.

Yes, the mag followers were correct, funny the one on the bottom had a no1 mag and would not feed correctly with a no4 mag.
