Grayguns has done it, but I think only on stainless frames. I seem to recall he doesn't recommend it for alloy frames. Give Bruce a call, he knows more about SIGs than all of us combined.
Might be easiest to trade out the frame if you're starting with a stock gun & go from there.
edit: NVM, apparently that IS a stainless frame, so no help with the swapping, but the tailectomy might be easier. Now I've gotta ask though: Why not just go for the Super Match? The Match/Match Elites always seemed to me like the red headed stepchild that never really fit in. Not that much different than std P220s, not "accurized", just an extra 1/2" of barrel. At least the Super Match comes tweaked and lightly massaged with a SA trigger....
I never thought of getting the Super Match. I'll have to look into it nowOnly reason I thought of the Match Elite is because Cabelas has them right now for $1199 which I think is an awesome deal for an all stainless Sig with aluminium grips and SRT and I think the long slide looks very nice.
I didn't know that about the nitron/stainless frames. It makes sense though.
Meowever, heading down that road, maybe we should all just buy X-Six L1s and call it a day. Lol.
I'm not a big fan of the beavertail either but someone posted pic's on Sigforum of their new Stainless 229 Elite which they had sent off to a reputable refinisher to have the tail and rail removed. Let's just say the results were not something I would be happy with. Most of the tail was gone but it still looked odd and it wasn't cheap to have it done.
The thread on Sigforum was from a guy who bought two 229 Elites both all stainless. He posted pic's of the pistols when he bought them and then follow up shots when he got them back. The tail removal was very "noticable" and looked very odd. The rail removal was even worse as the "lugs" were gone and the frame rounded but the "groove" was still there. The modifications were done by a well known U.S. company and I'm sure the quality of the work was first rate but the results were not something I would be happy with especially as I imagine they were not cheap.
I think the porting on the slide looks a bit much though.
Buy a classic in .22cal and use the frame from it and get the .22 kit as well. Likley about the same cost.
