So I took a scratched up 8.5" Grizz and decided to make it green 'n stuff :) Since I was painting it, I took the opportunity to sand down all the sharp/rough edges i.e. the ejection port.

Very nice job indeed! I love the choice of colour combination.

What were the steps you took in your preparation stage? What did you prime with (if anything)? Did you park it first? What method of application did you use?

Hope you can share a bit of your experience as I am looking to do a similar project soon.
 
To answer all the questions, I ordered the kit from Lauer in the states. Great service but the shipping and brokerage is outrageous. Each kit is about $30 and it costs $30 to ship, in addition UPS will ding you $15 for brokerage.

As far as the application is concerned, no special treatment at all. Use the provided stripper spray and paint away. I chose the kit that comes with the propellant bottle as I don't own an airbrush kit.
Use in well ventilated area, this stuff stinks.

I'm looking at refinishing a shotgun as well. How much of a pain in the d**k is it? Would I need to strip it down if the only finish on it is the factory finish? I want to do it because it is looking pretty rough from use (Tricked Rem 870). Did you have any runs in it at all?

Well ventilated is right. This is very strong stuff. As stated you can get the spray kit (like a spray can) or just the paint, but you will need a spray gun and compressor in that case. Or you could also get a hobby spray gun that uses cans of propellant. Either way Duracoat is worth the money when you see the results.
