10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

Thanks for the compliment. Lots of mill and sittin'n thinkin' time. Actual build and not buy a bunch of parts and assemble another same old clone.

I know what you mean about spending more time sitting & thinking than actual machining. That's why I have a comfy stool in front of my lathe! Got to get around to putting a handy bar fridge, too...

ntm, can you post a pic of the evolution stock with the maurader mag with and without the sleeve? Im curious what it looks like and if you have a tapco, same idea. They all look great.

I tossed the marauder mag in the trash, one of the worst 10/22 mags I've used.
Good old TI mags only for me for the moment.

Where did you get your emblems painted or how did you paint them?

I want to do that to mine but worry I will royally screw it up and there is no Undo button.

Also, what single point sling is that and where did you get it?

I just used crayola wax crayons to colour the markings. It's actually fairly simple to do. I used a cloth with some soap to take off the wax residue around the coloured areas. The hardest part was trying to clean up the residue as much as possible without destroying my hard work. It might have been easier to do if the wax was warmed up a bit though.

The sling is actually a 2 to 1 convertible type. I bought it from fabsports. It's a Condor brand sling although it wasn't indicated as such on fabsports' site. There is elastic material that covers the hooks and the stiching on them isn't the greatest but that's relatively minor I guess. I actually find it a bit long in single point config for my taste; even when adjusted to its shortest length. I am fairly short though so take that with a grain of salt. I'll see how annoying it is when I go gopher hunting with it when things around here melt a bit.

Various stages of my first 10/22 build.

I got this 10/22 from P&D here in Edmonton. STOLE it for $175 out the door with an extra Ruger 10rnd. mag.

AK-47 under folder, SR-22 barrel, M-16 A2 pistol grip, AFG handmade from the portion of the stock I cut off, section of rail held on with screws/J B Weld, Leapers fixed 4x scope, generic rings paid $6 for, and an extended mag release I made from titanium.

Same gun, different stock and sporting a muzzle brake I made, fully polished/tweaked internals including over-travel screw, front portion of rail removed to clear the scope, and added a small section of rail for a micro red-dot.
Cheers!

Nothing special but I didn't see any other pictures of ones like this in the thread...

I just did the auto bolt release mod lastnight, VERY easy! If you're a new 10/22 owner but you consider grinding parts on your gun a little intimidating:
- I free-handed it with a $19 CT "Jobmate" dremel clone and no vise.
- Many drinks into the night when I decided to start grinding
And still worked on the first attempt! You can't really mess it up.

Next I really need to get some of the side to side slop of of the receiver before I try to make it more accurate. Looking to get a TRS-25 or similar Red Dot in the near future. I plan on doing an aftermarket hammer and springs to help with the trigger too.

Dammit, where are people getting these awesome mags (TacInc) for their 10/22s? Granted, the steel lipped BCs I have aren't as bad as I thought they would be, but I'd love more options for high cap 10/22 mags.

When I first got my Butler Creek mags I thought I would have problems with them. The first time I put them into my 10/22, the action would stick and not want to close (Before I had fired any rounds from them that is.) . I thought they would not work well. But 500 rounds later and they haven't caused me a single problem.
