Tactical Carbine low cost build.

YAY!!!!

I won the internet!!!! Do I get a gold star?

LOL!ha:

2 things,

The reason guys don't jump right into the SA M14's is because they're grossly overpriced. The norcs also have a forged reciever, a good foundation to start on. Our options for M14's in Canada are very limited. You can build up a Norc with quality parts and still save 1000 bucks over the SA M14. Your comparison is apples and oranges.

Why does it matter if our ARs are "range queens" as you put it? Believe it or not, but most Canadiens do there shooting at ranges, service rifle, 3 gun, IPSC, IDPA, and general plinking... So what does it matter if a guy has quality and uses the range, I don't get it....

I understand and agree with the reasons why things are the way they are with M14 and AR choices.

Your "apples and oranges" reference is a good metaphor to steal in reaffirming my point.... it's funny to me that we readily accept that oranges are good and apples are bad... unless the oranges are too expensive and then apples are good too.

Kind of but not really... My point was, our choices for M14 are very limited, 2 options to be exact. Where as with the AR, the choices are almost endless.

The good news, Armtac is bringing in some LRB stuff, maby one day we'll see SEI receivers aswell. I would gladly swap out my Chinese receiver for something better, but at this time in Canada that option doesn't exist, or is very hard to come by...

ProMag Ambi plate single point sling attachment - $10 from amazon
Nothing to really be said about it, basic ambi plate sling attachment which i painted to match the rest of the furniture. Good buy for 10 bucks.

Eotech 552 Holo sight - $250 from a friend
Everybody is familiar with this great sight, i didnt plan on buying one because they were too expensive for my budget build but i grabbed one off a buddy for dirt cheap. It operates as if out the box so i just painted the hood and stenciled in a maple leaf to match the rest of the furniture.

Paint and Primer - $15 for both at Nappa
I am still debating whether or not to duracoat parts of my rifle so in the meanitime i did a quick and easy paint job with some aerosols. All i did for the stencil was go to the dollar store and buy a maple leaf sticker.

There is still a few more things to do and i will update as soon as i do them. In the meantime, here are some more pics.

There's no arguing that fact, for sure. And now it's nice to a Canadian company as an AR option. I intend to get an NEA, to support the cause and encourage their growth. Maybe they'll start doing very well and bring a 3rd M14 option to the market.:D

Ok, Both are corporals. Both have marksman quals. But (and this is a big but), WP has Sharpshooter for both pistol and rifle. He has a better rifle too. Moreover he has No1's (and he kept his collar dogs on for the photograph) in his photograph and Syncro only has DEU's (Militia at that).
Ladies and Gentleman, I declare Wicked Police the clear winner.:D
Just kidding guys. I don't even have an AR. I have shot them but don't want one. I do have a Lee Enfield No4 Mk 1/2.

Have fun with the AR's and be safe. Syncro and WP, thank-you for your service.

Teapot out.

where did the picture go?!

Probably the same reason that the OP removed his collar dogs and covered up right sleeve badge.

Nope. Not at all. I'm proud of the badges I've earned on my serge and don't mind who see's them.

But apparently saying I'm not an expert on cars because (or even though) I've driven one at work is enough to earn an infraction.

So, this will be my last post in the battle tested and proven, tough as nails, reservist's thread.

Yeah...it would have had nothing to do with you insinuating he had stolen gear.....

and really, is the last line of your last post really neccessary?

sigh......

That wasn't my meaning. The OP intentionally hid the identity of his unit (most likely Lorne Scots as I wrote earlier). You did not. How could you?
Shameless posing by the OP with his uniform in the photograph. I actually felt embarrassed for him when I saw it; and then the playground insults. Realistically, nothing can justify that.
Live and learn and then move on.

Im assuming you are a RHLI and not an Argyll because only a RHLI would bash a brother in arms, its all good thought i forgive you. This is my post, not my units so i see no need to include them in it. Anywho i hope i was able to help some people so far, i will be receiving a few more items in the upcoming days and i'll let you guys know the skinny!
