Fake or Real TROY BUIS?

I dont think the seller knew he was selling knockoffs, just waiting for him to talk to the guy he bought them from. Hopefully it all works out.

Troy BUIS

Dies,

you might be able to turn this around into a win-win situation.

Unless these are a very early version, and you could verify that with Troy, it's possible that Troy are not even aware that there are knock-offs in the market.

You should contact Troy C/S, explain your situation... that you bought these in good faith and after receiving them, you now believe they are fake. Offer to send them to Troy if they would be willing to exchange for a real pair. Indicate that it is in their best interest to be aware of the knock-offs.

It's worth a phone call or two, no?

Cheers,
Len

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa... why on earth would any company accept crappy-copies of their product in exchange for the real thing?

It's a nice idea, but it doesn't make sense.

I would also assume that Troy is well aware of copies as virtually every popular gun-accessory is being copied somewhere.

~Cheers

Troy Industries like many other manufacturers are well aware of the knock off products that others manufacture, I have had several sights returned and upon examination was able to determine they had actually been duped. The sad part is between unreasonable export controls and a market that is product hungry, you have many unscrupulous people that are ready to take advantage of the current situation. Like others have mentioned if it sounds to good to be true, the likelyhood is that you are buying a knock off.

Imitations, commonly known as knock-offs, cannot be advertised with reference to the wordings, trade names or model names of the real items they are imitating.

The seller followed the rules.

Althought the seller did not mention any reference to a name or model type, when I received the riser it had a LaRue label on the opposite side of it. I thought at first that "Hey the guy maybe didn't know what he had" but later I discovered some threads about these same risers be copied and sold as knock-offs and how to tell the difference between the real one and fake ones. Turns out mine was definitely fake.

Actually under the EE rules, had you bothered to print all of the rule, it seems that he did break the rules.

'Any imitation or "knock-offs" with infringement of copyrighted wordings or markings in any forms are disallowed. Imitations, commonly known as knock-offs, cannot be advertised with reference to the wordings, trade names or model names of the real items they are imitating. Pictures of real items are not allowed to be displayed in the sale advertisements of any imitations or "knock-offs "

As for those asking for names it likely doesn't matter. A recent check indicates that the guy has be banned and has been for sometime.

It has happened to me on an ebay purchase when I purchased some jordan basketball shoes, seller stated that they were authentic, but as soon as I got them I knew they were fake. I advised the seller who denied it, I than contacted ebay, needless to say I got my money back.

we need names.

I have contacted the seller via PM and will give them a couple days to respond before contacting the police and leaving negative feedback.

It could be an honest mistake where the seller bought two sets of sights thinking they were real, is surprised by how bad they are and just thinks Troy sights suck and tries to get rid of them.

But when you buy them from China, they are clearly marked as air-soft and it is stated that it is a copy. It comes in regular box it is not a troy factory packaging. In order to sale it as original Original box and instructions has to be copied. It is all done by greedy unscrupulous re-sellers already outside China.
If the price is looks too good I say stay away, there is no super deals in life unless you steal it of buy garbage

EE ad was $200 for the pair - this is only 10-15% off retail, which seems on par for a gently used set on the EE.

Vendor had a (70) trader rating....seemed pretty legit.

Actually No.

I posted the relevant section. You did as well.

Read it.

He did NOT show the trade marked names. He posted real pics.

To me when I read 'Any imitation or "knock-offs" with infringement of copyrighted wordings or markings in any forms are disallowed.', this means you cannot sell knock-off's that have fake brand name logo's on it, whether or not you show it or mention it in your ad.

Essentially you are saying it is not against the rules to sell knock-off stuff as long as you advertise it correctly (if not deceitfully) and not have any branding logos in your photos. Regardless of how someone advertises it I think most guys here are expecting that they are genuine firearm parts and not toys.

Selling knock-offs is not the issues, as long as it leave no room to interpretation. Seller has to clearly indentify that it is not a genuine item.

The sellers was selling it in a forum that is advertised as 'Exchange of Parts and Accessories for Modern Military & Black Rifles' on a firearms website. Without saying that it is an Airsoft part the seller is implying that it is indeed a part for a real firearm, which it is not.

Why are you still protecting the identity of the rip-off artist? Out him and the mods should ban him as well of course.

Are you asking this of the OP or myself? If it is directed to me I can tell you that the person I was dealing with has already been banned. I have a PM into the Mods to see what the reason was but I am not sure if they are able to provide this info.
